·At a garage sale today the host brought me three watches. They are nothing fancy but one has a decent strap and buckle. I also found two more Rolex spoons and a calendar sheet.
One of the regulars from the garage sale saw me take the watches and told me that years ago he bought two Rolex at a garage sale.
He said that one came with a « clamshell » box and that someone told him the box is worth more than the watches.
I asked about the other Rolex. He gave it to his son but the « thing with the numbers that turns » is missing.
Clamshell box for Rolex shows this on Google. And the « thing with numbers that turns » could possibly be a Sub without bezel. Sub photo from Alpha’s WRUW post. He gave me his address and phone number. I am not rushing out there. This guy is 83 and not on his first rodeo. Plus I am not that keen on spending more $ on watches. But a follow up with my “Rolex Field Guide” in hand will occur in the near future.
