Sorry to hijack the thread, but can someone explain why the clasp on my VERY EXPENSIVE luxury watch has a scratch? I paid a lot of money and am confused why a luxury good would use metal that can be scratched?

And also, I didn't wear it for a few days and now it's stopped running. Does it need a new battery?
Oh silly newbie! That’s a tool watch, you’re meant to beat the crap out it. The more you abuse it, the more cred you will get for being an arrogant asshole who couldn’t care about such trifles as watches that could feed a village in many parts of the world.

It doesn’t matter that it cost a small fortune- to you- I’m going to belittle your concerns and tell you to get over it or buy a Casio.
And if you are too stupid to understand that this antiquated technology requires your regular attention, not to mention an expensive service every 5 years that will give you sticker shock- then perhaps you should stick with your iPhone.

Has anyone mentioned how these watches are rated to 600m so they sure as hell better handle my soapy steamy shower? I wear my watches and my boots how they were meant to be worn: in the elements and in the shower.

Well, I won’t touch a watch that isn’t rated for at least 100m-despite being afraid of going in the deep end of the pool…which is only about 3.5m at the bottom…but what if I ever need to do some spontaous deep sea diving!

So long as the only swimming that is taking place is in your day dream while you are stuck at a desk mid day on a Monday, you are fine 👍

These luxury watches are investments and should be handled delicately, despite however rugged they may appear. Better yet, put it in a safe straight away and wear a cheap g-shock.

If you are doing the Australian crawl you may encounter hydroscopic impact syndrome.
Or crocodile/alligators…they are the same aren’t they?

Be careful, everyone knows that soapy water, has a different surface tension compared to water so it passes between the gaskets!!111

Lest we not forget dynamic pressure! This slippery surface tension + dynamic pressure… and don’t even think about the molecule size of steam. 🤦 Might as well just throw the watch away now.

I have this "RARE almost NOS Seiko in MINTY condition Australian edition", which is even more Australian, MINTY and NOS than others, in my collection. I know from extensive research that it is very valuable. Do you think that I can get 30k US for it quickz? I cannot sell here, but you know where to find me... *wink*

How long do you have to keep the watch on your nightstand before it is fully wound . . . or is at least wound enough to run for a day?
