Hiya gang,
I’ve got a hankerin’ for these 36mm 2494 and this one seemed like a good grab.
Nice classic layout and looks clean inside and out. Any dial-doubters amongst you?

I'm a dial-doubter, but I think that this one might be one for @padders

Should have known you’d be along, do you have any information to back up your doubts?

Dial doubter reporting because of the "O" in Automatic (really big) and in "Omega" (spacing w/ rest of characters)

From the listing, the inking looks weak on some of the letters because of scratches on the crystal. I like the schmutz around the applied logo it adds to the originality quotient.

I'm doubtfull. The lettering is too wobbly.

That said, if it is a redial, it's very good.

Nice of you to think of me but I can’t say I am too sure here, so would have otherwise chosen not to comment 😉. The general finish and alignment is good, I have seen other seemingly straight dials from the era minus Swiss Made so that too isn’t damning. What concerns me is the auto O that shishy mentions above and general cleanliness. I too have doubts but if it was redone, it was redone pretty well. If I had to declare either way, based purely on these pics I would say real. Given better pictures, I may change my mind. If you had it in hand with a loupe you could tell pretty quickly I would guess.

This is an interesting comparison, different model, no longer mine. Similar O and no visible Swiss Made, but with patina suggesting originality. This is from 1949. I think this supports originality of the the OP watch (or less likely that they shared a redialler):

Very difficult to replicate the 1/5 seconds track and foil numerals.

It could be that someone tried to clean the dial at one time and removed some of the original printing.

I vote genuine.

Thanks Evan,
I agree with your points and think when this shows up it will be better than the images suggest.
I also think the dial never had ‘Swiss Made’ on it.
Cheers

I think it is ok...should have grabbed it when it had a buy it now at around $500 🙁

I tried, the seller than decided that so much interest forced him to set his minimum acceptable offer to $1400. In this case it backfired and worked in favor of keeping the price 50% lower.
Miscalculation on his part.

Hmm. Definitely too clean and that logo looks wrong so count me among the doubters.
