Quite a few vintage watches are in the 38mm to 42mm range without counting the crown. They tend to be expensive and I am fortune enough to own these:

Not wearable by any practical means. That is if you are not strapping it on the outside of a padded flight jacket as was the intention.
55mm (wo crown) 1942 Stowa Luftwaffe Navigators Watch (B-Uhr). The granddaddy of pilot watches.
The (Unitas) movement is VERY nicely finished for a military piece. Radium? Plenty!

That's a real nice Stowa. "Not wearable by any practical means"? I work with a guy who is 132Kg and 5 foot bugger all in stature, wears a 50 odd mm Diesel Watch and it doesn't look out of place. Looks normal. Maybe the reason the size of watches is getting larger is that we are too. I realise that was a Luftwaffe Navigators watch. Instead of going out looking for nuts and berries or the odd Rabbit we just pop down Spar/Rema/7-11 and pick up a six-pack, pizza and a family bag of chips to eat whilst watching the TV? A larger watch fits the fat wrist and when Diabetes sets in and affects your eyesight a large watch is easier to see.

Seiko 6139 - Not too hard to find good examples, 39mm including concealed crown. (Mine is a little beat up, but it's a keeper.)

Both of my Heuer Bund and Enicar Sherpa Guide are over 42mm.
Don't suppose you're looking to offload that Heuer Bund, are you?
