The dials take getting used to bc almost all are asymmetrical. The fonts are funky sometimes too. My fav is the resonance.

·I think Lange straddles this line between Patek and Independents. Many of their watches are a value proposition for people unwilling to play the Patek game but getting similar or better quality and complications at Lange.
Journe is basically the pinnacle of the independents right now. Everyone wants to grab one before he dies. I can't afford his watches but many of them have me wondering "WTF". There are a few sweeeeeet ones to me though... think I missed the below-40mm train at FPJ though.

·Buy what you like of course.. But if you're the kind of guy who doesn't care what the secondary market value of your 50k watch purchase is likely to be than you also aren't probably the kind of guy asking opinions on a watch board...
This is a reasonable position, but I view watch collecting differently.
I have no concern for secondary markets POST purchase, however I do ensure to get the best preowned price when buying a watch. This mitigates some of the retail price loss that you mention.
I just wouldn’t buy a watch at a price where it’s market value fluctuation could put me in financial peril. I only buy watches at a price that I am comfortable losing 100%. Otherwise, I’m no longer wearing the watch, the watch is wearing me.
This allows me to “stay in my lane” and search for models that speak to me vs. chasing market darlings. That’s my philosophy, and if it means that I have to wait 5,10,20 years to get the Vacheron that I TRULY want (or even never) then so be it.
