Kids watches - high end options??

Just a little more info - She wants to continue to wear her Gshock - for fun, play, swimming, etc as she knows it won't break. However, she wants a nice dress watch for going out on special occasions. She takes very good care of things and is quite unique for a kid her age. My son, nope, Gshock only! haha

How about this near NOS Credor? Stick a purple or lavender strap on it, and you're (she's) golden. She already knows the Baby-G is for swimming and sports, so this should be relatively safe. In a "men's" size of 32mm.

Why should an eight year old child have a high end watch?
Is it diving, is it flying, is it racing,
does it have a tight schedule in his daily life, or
is it already collecting watches?

What is the purpose?

She will do Junior Open Water Diver in 2 years.
She already takes private pilot ground school courses.
She is an overachiever.
She wants to share a hobby and interest with her father.
She appreciates nice things and knows how to care for them.

I am just looking for some ideas of watches I can introduce her to that may fit her. Birthdays and Christmas are coming up.

I already appreciate the one suggestion for a Blok (not expensive, but perfect for my younger son). A few other ideas here have been fantastic potentials for her.

I think it is pretty cool that there are some young people out there interested in horology and watches. They should be encouraged. It also gives them something to aspire to achieving ownership of someday. She obviously will not be getting a Rolex or Patek anytime soon, but she can learn to appreciate timepieces and understand what it will take for education, work, savings, and effort to obtain.

Might be too big for her wrist, but a Moonswatch would be fun AND have the Omega name on it.

Otherwise, lots of Swatch options, including mechanical ones.

These are not designed to be serviced and the movement is mostly plastic, but still kinda cool.

There are also smaller automatic Seiko models for ladies that she might like.

That is a fantastic idea! The MoonSwatch would be close to what Dad has and is not over the top. Any idea on the smallest wrist size if you own one?

Yeah, I also had a Timex at 8. My next watch was a gold plated Smiths Astral at about 14.
You lucky dog! not the Timex 😁

Lots of cheap second hand Omega women's watches about though if you wanted a Dive format prices would be higher , plenty of cheap Tags and Tissot higher end Womens dive watches around all at a fraction of the cost of a Mens and of course a Womens watch at her age would be the ideal modern larger size that is more fashionable.

Size wise, it is virtually identical to a standard Speedmaster Pro. But it weighs next to nothing.

I think Tag do a great range of ladies dive watches which on a 9 Yr old wrist sould seem almost full man size. Not a cheap option but very smart.

If she is taking an interest in horology then you also might want to consider a clear caseback so she can marvel at the movement

Timex is a solid choice, and what I gave my daughter. My first watch was a digital Mickey Mouse watch, but the first watch I really carried was a Wesclox Scotty pocket watch.

NM, I was wrong. This would make you way cooler than getting her a Seamaster.

Timex for my son when he was about 6. Some of their smaller ones aren't too bad size-wise (28 mm or so?), except the straps are too long. That is easily fixed by punching more holes in the strap. Moved up to a Seiko solar last year, but even with a surgically altered leather strap it's a bit too big. Picked up a Nivada Chronoking reissue a few months ago -- that one is a little big but he can pull it off (he's 10-1/2 now). And I got it with a tropical strap, so it has holes the full length.

There are a few Speedmasters tucked away for when he is a bit older.

Well, I’ve entered my second childhood and squandered £9.99 on this new watch.

That said, I bet all children could program it (set the time, day, date etc) quicker than me.

(Thank goodness for YouTube videos)

Looks a bit like the Seiko Quartz that Roger Moore’s James Bond wore in The Spy Who Loved Me.

I am happy to hear about your wonderful daughter. Congratulations for that, from father to father.
Surely you will find a satisfactory solution.

Does your daughter like Snoopy? This has a 36mm case diameter. It's limited edition but still available now via online store:

Otherwise, a second hand neo vintage TAG Heuer if looking for a diver? This one has a 34mm case diameter dating from the early 1990s. I've given it to my 13 year old son:

Timely thread , I purchased this for my 8 year old granddaughter who has recently shown a interest in wearing a watch, bought off the bay and even comes with a tropic strap .
