Just picked up a DSOTM Pitch Black for a steal

Was picking up some lunch today and had a few minutes to kill while waiting, next door to the restaurant there was a Jeweler who is an AD for Omega (one of the few in my area - the Omega Boutique is on the other side of the Metroplex). I've been in a few times over the past several months just browsing and remembered they had marked down a DSOTM Pitch Black to $7800.

That was a few months ago and today they had it marked down to $4900 BNIB - not pre-owned. Guess they were looking to make some room for the incoming models/pieces. Really couldn't pass up the deal so jumped on it. This was always the model I was looking at before I ended up buying a GSOTM a few years back.

I have actually been looking at a Rolex DJ 41 over the past few weeks, but it never felt right on the wrist since my daily is a PO 43.5, to which by comparison the Rolex felt dainty and small.

Moon collection coming along nicely, I think its now time for a watch winder!

Nice catch.

Your comment about the DJ41 looking dainty did make me laugh though.

Wow. That really is a steal! Makes you wonder what their wholesale cost is from Swatch Group.

That was my first thought, its pretty clear that luxury goods have a significant mark up - but I was a bit shocked to see this listed so low. I am not sure how long this one sat, but I think the owner just wanted it gone at this point. Def a lot of margin in these things, but when you look at the inventory these stores carry between watches and jewelry, they have a lot of money tied up in the products.

Either way, I didn't have to think twice about it at that price. Now all I am wanting is the same deployant style clasp and strap for my GSOTM -to me it changes the feel of the watch over the standard style buckle.

The lume on this piece is absolutely insane, and I love the matte dial with the white text, has an analog vintage instrumentation feel to it. So glad I went with this over the Deep Black PO, a nice looking watch for sure, but a bit too bulky and trendy in my opinion.

The dealer's wholesale price was most likely more than what you bought it for, but businesses need cash flow so sometimes it is better to let a piece that has been sitting around for too long go at a loss and just move on. This is also how some pieces flow to the grey market....some watches are just in the wrong venue for the market to absorb.

35 or 40% retail, most likely, so OP bought this well below cost.

Yep, at that price - a job well done. I also agree this is a better choice than the PO. I had the original DSOTM and really loved it. Wear in good health!

Great piece! Makes me want to wander into lesser trafficked stores more often.
