·I'm Team Omega, through and through (i.e. I know nothing about Rolex) - but I was unexpectedly tempted by a circa early 1980's ladies Rolex today when picking up another piece that was in for service. It looked so plain and good by itself among all these gaudy monstrosities. I just felt like it should be saved and come home with me. 😀 I'm experienced enough a shopper to know NOT to make an emotional purchase (especially one in the 4 figures). I did a little research, but I just want to see if there's anything I should consider that I didn't uncover on my own or haven't realized.
The watch has been professionally authenticated, cleaned, serviced, and refinished (case and band only, not face/dial); it will come also with a 1 year service warranty through my jeweler. All original, but important to note that this is not a "datejust". Bracelet has very slight signs of stretch - fits me perfectly out of the case (comfortable, no give). HATE it when that happens... Didn't know that ladies bands tend to stretch out more because women wear their watches looser, more like bracelets, than men do. Who knew? I understand that ladies watches don't hold their value as well as men's, but I don't have an everyday watch, and I'm very tempted to pick this one up. The list price is $2,890 - or $3,133 after tax. I was a little surprised at first, but my research seems to say that's pretty reasonable.
Just trying to round out all my self-education before I decide to take the plunge - any advice/info is appreciated!
