Hi and welcome. If it's a moonwatch my choice would be 861 and 3861.

If you're thinking last generation, occasionally you'll see prior gen 1861s sell for ~3k. It might be worth considering going for a sapphire 1863 if you're using your hands a lot in a kitchen and have high-odds of banging the watch and the idea of buffing out hesalite crystal occasionally bothers you (but it can be buffed out easily!)

Good luck, happy hunting, and welcome to the forum!

This is a good point! I'm not even sure if I'd wear it in the kitchen. I have to consider this.
I may just stick to my G-shoks or one of my micro brands.

Problem is I'm always in the kitchen!
If the point is to sell everything and acquire the Speedy as The One, it has to be a daily driver...
Yeah I've got to figure this one out.

BTW: I've got the 1957 Broad Arrow on the radar. Anyone have a thought to share in this regard? I'm liking the 'usability' and pricing is closer to budget in the Grey market.....

You could look at the 3594.50.00, which is a speedmaster broad arrow from the prior gen. It's typically priced slightly less than the standard moonwatch. What you have pictured there is a 57' heritage model and is actually more expensive than the moonwatch.

FWIW, the speedmaster should absolutely stand up to your kitchen work.

It's funny, one of my Chefs wears his AP royal oak, Tudor B.Bay and occasionally his Date adjust in the kitchen. I was surprised and a bit confused, why would you risk it in the kitchen. His point was they are made to be worn.

I'm a bit more conservative in this case😂

I'm not a chef but I cook 5-6 days a week at home, and often somewhat involved meals. Neither my speedmaster nor my seamaster seems to have any issue with the steam or oil from simmering or stir-frying, and accidental contact has yet to cause any significant damage. The speedmaster has enough water resistance to handle anything in the kitchen. I do clean my watches with soap and often a soft toothbrush after using a wok to remove any oil that might build up around the bezel or pushers.

My seamaster definitely has some scuffs and dings from hiking, canoeing, swimming, rock scrambling- whatever. But I wouldn't have it any other way; I got some new scratches on the clasp sliding down a waterfall this weekend. I'll never forget where I picked them up!

Welcome. They’re all great, this one is my favorite one of my three though. 3523.80 from about 2006. I have two current moonwatches too, white and hesalite.
