·Then there you go. Same can be said for the joke thread. I’m not suggesting everything needs to be rated G, just be aware of the audience and temper according to who’s in the room. It’s not censorship, it’s just awareness and empathy.
No argument here.
The problem is, every poster’s perception of empathy, awareness and appropriateness is slightly different: we all come at this from a different perspective based on age, life experience, education, religion, etc. For instance, I once posted here what was a real-life wedding announcement, in a real paper, that anyone, of any age, gender, or race could view. It was a couple, who had a funny name pairing, it was “Fillerup-Standing.” Yes, a real couple. It was deleted. It thought it was quite benign.
The point? Just like over at the “Sales” thread, there are rules posted that need to be followed. There could be general rules posted for the Jokes thread. Yes, there are bound to be mistakes, no one will get it right all the time. But people enjoy the Jokes thread, look forward to it, and I think with a modicum of effort, it can be satisfactorily preserved.
If there are to be no posted guidelines, the alternative is to err WAY to the other side of potentially offensive. I’ll start:

·The trouble with an NSFW joke thread idea is that it may come up in searches / we don’t stop non members reading the site. There might be a wonderful person with a great collection who runs a mile after falling upon that in a search / also might impact the site in the rankings. Big brother Google is watching. I am no expert in how much of a risk or issue that is. I do see OF come up a lot when I search some Watch questions. There is no easy answer to this but hopefully between us there is a middle line and we can pull it back a bit when we cross it - or inadvertently push someone’s buttons.

Are we going to cowtow to every wimp with a sensitivity issue, or are we going to expect everyone in the room to be an adult and agree to proper decorum, and those that cry too much or share their deepest fetish will be asked to leave.
I mentioned before I'm a FB Mod, and I learned very rapidly that the larger the group becomes, the more outliers you get, and the more aggressive you have to be to maintain the median.
That being said, 99% should be tolerable to everyone. We're not schoolkids anymore, and our parents long ago expected us to take care of ourselves and work with others.
If you're on this site during work, you take your chances just like all of us using the internet. You certainly can't predict who's looking over shoulder(virtually or otherwise). There is no safe place.
Me, I err on the side of childish and clever. The only problem that could present is someone accidentally laughing their head off. In that case, I have good lawyers, so don't try me.....😝

That’s a bit harsh. This is a watch forum, where people come as a hobbyist, to blow off steam, or divert their attention from the daily grind.
The watches, and the discussions thereof, are of very little tangible importance, and the Jokes thread, even less so. Whether it stays, or goes, is of incredibly minor concern to me, and I’m sure the others who have posted here feel the same way. Nobody is a wimp, and nobody is stomping their feet. You’ve read into this things that aren’t there.
