I see no issue with that. To my way of thinking this type of dial restoration is akin to a repair on a damaged table stretcher or the foot of a wine cooler. The object is to rectify damage and stabilise the piece for the future. In other words, to make the item attractive and usable. If the restoration were done in such a way to make the dial indistinguishable from a perfect, aged example then it would be bordering on fakery.
As this stands it's a very good, if not excellent, honest repair. (IMHO).
