·Another uncommon piece up for grabs. IWC Ingenieur 666AD from around 1963 with the black gilt dial that’s oxidized heavily to resemble granite, sharp case, and original Gay Freres beads of rice bracelet.
Case: 36.5mm stainless screw back case that’s 18mm at the lugs and 12.7mm thick with crystal. Case retains its factory lines and brushing. It has the soft iron inner cap. Serial is clear between lugs, 1652039.
Dial/Hands: Original black gilt dial that is heavily oxidized on the lacquer level, gilt print is clear. Missing tritium lume plot at 7 o’clock. Hands are original with some oxidation.
Movement: cal 853 is running well, I had my watchmaker lubricate the mainspring a couple of years ago and it’s keeping decent time (update, I timed against the Atomic Clock and it was around +15s over 24hrs). I’d recommend a service as there are no service marks in the caseback. It retains its original silver gilt date wheel. Sorry for no movement pics, I couldn’t easily remove the iron shroud.
Other: original signed crown, original crystal, signed Gay Freres BoR bracelet in stretched condition but fine to wear.
I got this watch from the grandson of the original owner who was an anthropologist and spent a lot of time in Mongolia. It’s a very unique piece that wears great…has some heft and is a real tool watch.
Asking $3,495 Shipped in the CONUS. More than happy to share videos over WhatsApp, as this watch is a challenge to capture!
