I have 89 r810 IWC and I’m wondering what happened to the case, if anything. Look on the left side the case seems not to be rounded, left upper side (9-10hour) is too straight or is it just how it looks like, maybe I can’t see same shape on the right side because of the crown, generally case looks like it was not polished and apparently i can find similar looking cases, so is it only illusion or..? Last photo is the same ref from the internet, looks similar with the left side 😉

Are you talking about the tops of the lugs or the sides of the case?

Upper left side of the case, under left upper lug until the centre of the left side of the case, something like that lol, I should draw it maybe 😀 I feel like this part is flatter and maybe should be ideally rounded because case and glass itself is round, but still i might see the same flat part on the right side but there’s a crown so it’s not so visible.

Are you talking about this section?

The autos seem to have a different case design, with a separate bezel and a snap caseback as opposed to a screw caseback on cal 89.

Maybe there was a dent there and it was polished out

Funny that there are similar cases in the internet historical auctions and shop offers, strange

Well, one in excellent condition popped up the other day and I decided to snap it up. Not sure about that bottom right lug though. I examined the photos really closely and this is the only one that looks a bit odd.

A lot, but sometimes you have to pay tomorrow’s prices today! $2450 but it has been serviced.

Wow, crazy price, but dial is in gorgeous condition, only watch or with box and papers? Service is not a huge deal, under 100$ in my country.

With box and the original buckle (which are quite expensive). Service in the US is over $500 these days.

Really? 500 for a manual movement? Crazy!
My watchmaker in northern Italy is the most expensive of the city and a service of a manual wind is about 150-200.
The buckle, if it is original, is worth 4-500.
Is it like this one?

Yep! That’s the one. Yes, service is very expensive in the US these days. Was like $350 5 years ago and $600+ these days.
