I have a watch from the dark side coming in tomorrow by noon, and it required relinquishing a Tudor Black Bay Red on bracelet and leather, one of my 2 Planet Ocean 2500, and a Speedmaster Date...

Managed to get a ceramic Submariner last summer then I got hooked. Ingratiated myself to the local AD and then got hooked up with the Batman and the 50th anniversary Sea Dweller. (Still don't know why I got the call on the Sea Dweller, must have that non-flipper face) Dark side collection has now surpassed my Omegas.

For me it depends on the rolex model, gold submariner = demon, a datejust in silver is at the same level as a speedmaster for me

I’ve officially gone to the dark side twice now and didn’t intend to. Last week I made a couple of hour drive with the intention of looking and potentially purchasing a Grand Seiko Snowflake. Before finding the Seiko Boutique I decided to stop into Rolex just to see what they had on hand. Ofcourse all the watches I asked about were not in stock until I got to my last named watch.

I was instantly impressed with the Rolex that was offered but I decided to pass at that moment and to continue on my initial journey of seeing the snowflake. Man was I stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to decide between these two beautiful watches after seeing the Grand Seiko in the flesh.

In the end I made my choice based on the conclusion that I can find the GS brand new for cheaper on the secondary market and the Rolex is trading used for nearly what I paid brand new. I guess I’m an Omega and Rolex guy now!

Explorer II growing on me. With this model still occasionally being available unlike the other stainless models I wonder if it's popularity is increasing?

I’d change the title of this thread to “I’ve finally seen the light...”

biggest thing keeping me away from Rolex was the popularity, literally everyone has them in major cities, 99% of people wear them as a status symbol, and that's a turn off for me

...But you realize they are a safe choice for a reason. incredible build quality. picked up a 16760 and loving it right now. but nothing beats a speedmaster!
