FWIW, I'm not of the opinion that we're in a bubble, and I don't see anything on the horizon that would initiate a collapse (burst). Further, the prices for some models/references may be slowing down, but this is a case by case basis...it's always dangerous to generalize. I do think that one can argue that the prices for some models have gotten ahead of themselves. Lastly, the data you collected from Chrono24 is quite interesting; it would be great to combine it with other sources, i.e. known historical "sold" prices. Good work! 👍

It will burst, but recession happens first. BUT for the record, I don't think you'll see ceramic Daytona's under retail for example.

Video response that was linked on RF

This video is laughable. Basically guy who is financially invested in Rolex's selling at a premium, is mad with guy who posts video saying Rolex's are starting to sell at less of a premium.

Biased much?

Saw a few minutes of the video response but called it quits.

There are first world problems like paying 2x MSRP a watch, but what should we call this "exaggerated" seriousness over somebody stating the bubble has burst aka fake news.

Yeah as soon as the guy said “it’s dangerous” to say the Rolex bubble has burst I had to turn off the video. Sorry I’ve heard things that actually were dangerous over the years.

That's exactly what my thoughts were when I heard him say this sentence.
Come on...
The next thing was: "the Rolex bubble will never burst."
Admitting there is a bubble but saying it will never burst at the same time? Really?!

Btw: I'm not a "Rolex hater" as I own Rolex watches myself.

He even states in the end of the video (9:20):
"we all have to protect our assets. I have a safe deposit box with a number of Rolex watches and I want to protect that asset and I'd like to protect my industry (...)"

bursting? probly not. there is simply a glut in the secondary market. that's why rolex limits their production (so to say) and that's increases the prices. option of the potential customers is to go to secondary market. that will certainly affect the profitability of the company once it jacks up prices artificially.

i iust stopped browsing at page 56 to see the endless of ebay pages where thousands of rolex pieces (32k plus), new or preowned, are available anytime on the net.

Ive just watched this again and the guys got quite a nerve really.

For the last few years grey market dealers, flippers and investors have been the scourge of the Rolex market, buying up stock and significantly adding to the demand, preventing genuine collectors and wearers from getting watches from an AD.

Now this joker wants us to feel sorry for these people who may be out of pocket or left holding stock they'll lose money on if Adrian's video is correct (or if indeed it increases the rate at which prices drop).

Piss off.

This is telling something about today's society where for example with oil prices and bitcoins people speculate about future value. All talk about market value of 2x MSRP being the price the watch is worth is strange as for me the price set by the manufacturer which already includes the profit margin they are content with is to me the correct value.

people scared of the bubble bursting affecting their investment gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

I think supply is definitely catching up, you can see it in resellers stock all throughout the internet. I remember seeing the jubilee Batman at $20K, now they're not even asking $15....

Crazy people.
