I'm after a full size, so I'll just have to continue the vigil! Each new watch seems to come on the market a hundred or so more than the last one regardless of condition, so when a decent one appears, its jacked right up. Hopefully it's a temporary thing and they'll come back a bit more in line with where they've been up to now!

Other than the damage to the bezel insert, which I can get replaced in the fullness of time, I was wondering what you think of this one as a potential purchase.

That one has been re-brushed with a scotchbrite pad or similar, lines are all over the place showing it was done (sloppily) by hand.

Just came across this 2531.80 and picked it up at a reasonable price. What do you think? First time buying a high end watch from good ol craigslist could pass up for $960 after negotiations. Took to watch repair for authentication but I’ll let you experts decide

thanks, the only thing throwing me off is the white second hand. Is that common. I noticed yours is red/ orange??
It was super common for the paint on the second hand to fade. They should be vibrant red but I have seen plenty that are white.

yeah after you mentioned the fading I looked it up and it’s a common problem on early 2531.80s. It’s crazy how they can fade from red to white

even on this pic looks like work has been done on all hands. Actually think the black on hands looks pretty darn good.or is it the photo angle?

The hands are polished but depending on the lighting and angle, they will appear to be black. If you look at your photos, you’ll see the hands are reflecting your phone and appear to be black because of it.

One quick tell on these is that any sub seconds dial will be usually opposite the crown since they are made up of old pocket watches. Since the crown needs to be located on the right side that puts the dial that's normally at 6 o'clock over at 9 o'clock. They then just repaint the dial to suit the new orientation, no changes to the movement are made. Quick and dirty, they tend to be very fragile and poorly constructed also.

A nice looking 2531 has popped up (at least I think so, happy to have any error in that pointed out, that's why I'm here!). I don't see anything wrong with this one, but am generally prone to blunder, so wanted to post here for you guys to cast an eye over it to see if you spot anything I may have missed!

My main query is, I've not seen that particular Operating Instructions book with this model before (only the one with the red cover)?

As always, I very much appreciate any and all replies! Thanks!

I’m not a pro by any means but from holding mine and comparing it looks good to me. This is a clean looking example. How much is it going for if you don’t mind me asking? Mine came with the red cover manual.

Fake Omega NTTD mesh bracelet being sold as the real deal.... Not titanium and definitely not genuine. Already at 9 bids. Someone is gonna get ripped off. I've already reported it but it's still there. Ebay is hopeless. Ends in 8hrs. What a screw up.
