There are a lot of legitimate Speedmasters out there offered by forum members. I'd recommend that route.

As a relative newbie to this forum who is looking to purchase their first speedy, I came across a watch posting via watchrecon that I am wondering if it falls under the too-good-to-be-true.

It's for an Omega Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon (Ref 311.93.44.51.99.001) with the original strap and buckle and the ceramic deployant clasp & strap. The warranty card is stamped and dated by an AD and has full Omega warranty until 2019.

They are asking $3,200 and below are the pics. Any input into if this looks legit or not and what questions I should be asking would be greatly appreciated.

Looks fine!

Dears,

After having bought couple of Genèves, I would like to move to something more modern.

I found this SMP mid size from 1996(36mm)
The steel bracelet is not original (also claimed in the advertisement), but I was wondering if the watch itself is also non legit too.
In detail, I'm concerned by :
-the hand of seconds which is not red at the end.
-lume on the hands shows different aging than on dial (maybe redial?)
- bezel which looks in really good conditions for a watch of 15 years.

I have done some research, but I would feel more comfortable with some hints from you guys.
What do you think about the photos and boxing?
Is it legit? Is on auction starting at 950 $, buy now option 1400$.

Many thanks to all of you!😀

In the end the watch was legit, but i was not able to buy it due to a last second bidder who surpassed me (few bucks) :-(

Pin bracelet, wrong crown, case too thin. Hands are silver not white. Crown guards flattened at the ends, not round. Helium release valve too short, pushers too short. Clasp pusher round, not oval. This is a real one.

Hello Guys:

I just bought a used Omega Seamaster Diver 300m from an ebay user who bought it from chronocash.de, having a warranty certificate from this dealer, but with no papers, only the box.

I have read other forums before buying, ant this piece seems to check all the major signs of a real one, but i'm still not 100% sure, so i'm coming to you guys to help me sort out if this is a real or a fake.

Thanks for any help.

Hi all, first time post here. I just got my first omega today! Love the watch immediately and very happy to join the family. My watch is the 2nd generation speedmaster reduced 3539.50. Bought online from a Japanese seller with really good reputation. I'm quite positive it's authentic but it's my first time buying from this seller so I would like to get your help to verify. Thanks in advanced and sorry for the cellphone picture quality. Also, the chronograph second hand doesn't line up with the 12 o'clock mark (about 0.5 sec off). Not really bothered me now, but would like to know if it's going to be an easy fix in the future? Thanks

Only thing is that second hand its moving every second step, not 1/8 and is not perfect with lines on dial

Sounds like a typical Omega quartz, nothing to worry about.

Hi
I'm interested in buying a PO but very cautious about buying from eBay. However Ebay seems the only place that has the watch I'm interested in...42mm orange bezel.
If I like a watch would an Omega boutique authenticate a watch on the spot if I met a seller there?
If so what would they likely charge for this?
I am UK based.

Thanks in advance

Hey Rigsby,

If you post pictures of the watch (from all angles, and if it is not a see-thru back take a movement photo too) I'm sure many people would be happy to help you. I don't think you need to go to an omega boutique and I'm not even sure they would be willing to inspect it... A visual inspection by the experts here will reveal whether it is a fake or not. People aren't great at faking Omegas. I hope it works out!
