Is this watch real or fake thread - aka Fake Busters!!

Hi All,

True to this thread's name, i am a newbie to Omega watches and would like advice on this watch. I received it as a graduation gift and the people who purchased it for me did so through Amazon. A few background points: This watch was bought as an Amazon Prime item and the seller (WatchSavings) has had thousands of positive reviews in the last 12 months. All this lends itself to the fact that the watch is authentic. I've also read a few articles on how to tell a fake (check watch functions, wrong fonts, luminescent mark quality, etc.) and so far its passed all those inspections, but my eyes aren't as keen as most of the people on this site so I would love some feedback!

Also, I edited one of the images to block out the serial number. I'm not sure if that's an okay number to have floating around but I searched that serial number to see if it has been used before and nothing came up. Also, the serial numbers are consistent with the watch and the pictogram that came with it.

Thanks in advance!

Looks legit to me. Does the serial # on the lug match what is on the cards?

Hi there, thanks for the response! Since it was purchased on amazon, the warranty is through amazon so I don't have the omega warranty card, but the serial number that's engraved on the watch matches the barcode sticker on the watch as well as the pictograms card that came with the watch.

Hope this helps!

As a relative newbie to this forum who is looking to purchase their first speedy, I came across a watch posting via watchrecon that I am wondering if it falls under the too-good-to-be-true.

It's for an Omega Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon (Ref 311.93.44.51.99.001) with the original strap and buckle and the ceramic deployant clasp & strap. The warranty card is stamped and dated by an AD and has full Omega warranty until 2019.

They are asking $3,200 and below are the pics. Any input into if this looks legit or not and what questions I should be asking would be greatly appreciated.

I just got this watch and I just wanted to confirm it's authenticity. I have included a few pictures of the watch, but I also linked an imgur album which has more pics. (http://imgur.com/a/lC60A) thanks

The spots that the fakes miss on this are there. That being said these where faked at a high level. You need to have the serial number confirmed.

I buy the seller on all PO's

Well the seller had good reviews. If you don't mind, what parts on the watch look off?

Sorry that data is not really given out to new members so that the info does not get back into hands of the replica makers.

Hope you understand the logic there.

I think the Foo is saying that the watch is OK and has the true details that the fakers often miss out.

I have the same username on a different site where I have posted my other watches if that would make you feel better? I guess either way I am bringing it to a watchmaker tomorrow to have them look at the movement.

I re-read it and I think you are right. I might double check with a watch maker since I got this as a gift for someone and I don't want to give a fake haha

I just want to confirm that this watch is authentic. I posted photos yesterday and was told it probably is, but I just wanted to add a couple photos for the movement to confirm. Thank you. Here is an album with more pictures than what I will include on this post (http://imgur.com/a/lC60A).

If the serial number from the movement matches the case, you should be good.

They do. Thank you!

Just noticed this on my speedy after 1 year of ownership. My speedmaster day date caseback has a writing 100m/333ft. All other speedy day date I see have a writing 100m/330 ft on their caseback. Is this one of omega's defect caseback in their production? I have never seen any caseback like this. This watch is authentic and just being service in the omega authorized service center. Any thoughts?
