Something looks off to me on the dial of the omega. I was actually the avalon (probably an A Schild 1184) and wondering why this was getting so much attention. Then I noticed the broken lug which reminded me of the common fake seamasters.

Fortunately only one stone missing from the bezel. I was only suspicious when I saw the wrist tattoos...the price clearly seems fair.

I'll never understand this.

If you're going to wear a fake watch, no one is going to believe you have a USD 1M watch on your wrist, especially when you're a working class guy.

Why don't these people buy a believable fake, such as one of the Seamaster superfakes?

Although I guess the sort of person who buys a fake watch isn't the kind of person who thinks things through.

Hello new members...

Welcome to the OmegaForums.net!!

I have specifically created this thread just for the newbies who come on here after they have been given a watch buy their uncle's uncle twice removed OR they have bought what you think is a legit Omega off good old flee bay!

The idea is you post your watch here and it is discussed by our panel of experts, who I might add, may say few choice words like 馃が and 馃が or maybe 馃が.

The will endeavour to be as blunt as possible, but getting you the answer you are looking for.

The main idea is this..

It will remove the countless new threads asking 'Is my watch fake?' or 'I was left this by my dad's dad's dad from 1860'

Any new threads will be merged in to this one as of now.

Thanks very much.

The OF Management & Moderation Department.

Fire away!!

As you're new to this, what do you think of "Constellation" on the caseback?
That should give you a hint to its authenticity.

There are other things, but the general appearance of the watch is enough.

Hi guys
Real or Fake?
new to this

To add to @JimInOz reply, a chrono shouldn't have 2 subdials with 60s and a 24h subdial.

.....and that crown 馃槻
This one might even be quartz. 馃檮
Kudos to their effort of the Omega markings on the clasp.
What is this printing at the bottom of the dial?

Hi everyone! Just discovered the forum, first time posting. I'm looking to buy my first nice watch ever, and I have my eyes on an a blue Aqua Terra with the vertical dial pattern and a plain date window, reference 231.10.39.21.03.002. I think I found exactly what I'm looking for on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/285415655323 . From doing some research, it was my understanding that Omega switched to a horizontal patterned dial around 2017. I was curious how old this particular watch was (especially for new/unworn condition) and I messaged the seller asking if he knew the year this watch was made. Their reply: "Good afternoon, the watch is dated earlier this year. You can鈥檛 really tell year of manufacturing on the latest omegas since they all have Radom serial numbers so we go with the date on the card." Hearing this was produced in 2023 surprised me. Should this be a red flag? Per Omega's site, the watch is "no longer available", and only horizontal dials are available for purchase. What do all of you think? Does this watch seem okay to buy? Or should I look elsewhere?

Related, what is the consensus on the Ebay Authenticity Guarantee? I see mixed reviews.

Thanks, everyone!

I have a question, if you buy a pre-owned from Jomashop or RM Gallagher type website would these tend to be fakes or are they authentic? I鈥檓 exploring ordering a watch from one of these sites but now I鈥檓 worried they could be fakes even though the website claims it to be genuine

I'm looking at a second hand 2023 Speedmaster. Comes with the smaller black box but in addition to this is a small white box I've never seen online. The owner says it came from the boutique. Is this really a real Omega box? Seems kinda shifty... Appreciate the advise!

Hi all.

I recently bought this 1998 seamaster 254180. I believe the movement is genuine omega and was told that it was. I was curious as when I compared it to photos of 1538 movements on Google etc I couldn't find one that had the V8 # underneath SWISS. Can anyone tell me what it means and if it indeed genuine. Thanks!

Hello everybody could I get yalls opinion on whether or not this is an authentic sea master or not? The reason why I鈥檓 sketched out about it is because I got it for a really low price compared to market so I just want a another opinion. It came with box, warranty card, and pictogram.

Hi,
Would you trust that a an Omega Planet Ocean watch purchased from a Dealer on Chrono24 to be authentic?

I just called an Omega Boutique Store and I was told by them that they said that Omega Corporate does not allow Omega Boutique Stores to inspect and authenticate an Omega Watch.

Where am I supposed to go then to get an Omega Watch authenticated if Omega does not do that?

Thank you in advance for all of your advice.

Hey guys I came across a used Aqua Terra with original papers and box for ~$3,300. Since this will be my first Omega purchase I wanted to make sure nothing looked suspicious.

My only concern is there seems to be a very small red omega logo on the bezel at 12 o'clock. Other photos I've seen for the reference model doesn't seem to have that. Is that a cause for concern?

Ref number is 231.10.39.21.54.001
