OF posts aren't the hateful comments section of a youtube video with racial slurs and ad hominem attacks but just good dialogue. I feel like much of the perceived offense taken at a comment here or there is often due to the lack of emotion and nuance within written/read text vis a vis speech (unless you count yourself amongst Joyce or Yeats and can pull that kind of thing off).

Well, we've had a dust-up or two in the past but nothing that got totally crazy. Most people stay within certain boundaries because they're either decent people or they don't want to get clanged upside the head with an aluminum bat*. Nobody wants to have a mod go Joizey on their ass.

*We keep several sizes in the ΩF Armory.

The funny thing without any provocation is, so far, noone showed me an ad of a full set transitional in the same condition for sale for 8000 dollars. Still waiting.

This MINT B&P, listed for $8,5k. And I shit you not, it took 12 WEEKS for the seller to sold the watch. I was following it hoping for the seller to lower down the price. You can see his IG username there to confirm.

The real question is what did it actually sell for not what was the seller asking. This applies to any item.

That should satisfy OP's request regardless. The watch couldn't have sold for anymore than the $8,5k asking price, it could be sold less than $8k for all we know.

I just always like to know the actual selling prices of anything before considering making an offer on anything. Many times sellers will say an item is sold and it is not or the deal falls through and the item is not relisted. Also many items "disappear" leaving only their asking price behind which again could be an outrageous one.

Hello

I see some issues with this watch.
1/ Bracelet is a 1171
2/ papers are form 1970 at list
3/ movement number starts with a 27 which makes it a late 1969 so not a transitional
4/ box should have a red canvas into it.
5/ no meanf of nowing if the crystal and crown are original.

cheers

Now you're starting to look a little bit silly, as well as desperate.

1171 bracelet vs. 1039...that is a $1k difference there, so $8k goes to $9k...

I don't know about boxes, but one would have to imagine that the watch sold had later boxes since it appears to have sat at the dealer for a couple of years...small difference, but to those in the know, might be a $200 difference.

Whilst all small details, it is the details that make collectors pay the big bucks.

Food for thought.

here are some pic of the listed watch. I could not get some of the box and papers for the time being as it's sunday and they're in the safe. SO is the DON
beside that : honnestly I begin to get tired of being between the rock and a hard place. How much will my friend will eventually sell it. I don't bloody know. We tried to make a few honnest pics this afternoon.
As for a possible sale here, I will give my buddy info to the buyer. If you don't think it's not worth more than 8000 don't buy it, if you think it's worth more, feel free to contact me in private.
PS : sorry for puting several times the same pics.

I don't think so. It's been days since some members make remarks about any little thing. So do I, not more.
If a transitional as a 1969 number and a 1971 bracelet, not the good booklet and you don't mine... just grab it for 8500

you're right. That's funny how some not to indulge with me for any tiny detail and have nothing to say about a 8500 bucks watch taht as so many issues.

cheers

The Instagram example is a genuine transitional - 273xxxxx is fine for a -68.

I agree that an 1171 is worth less than a 1039, but it's likely original as the papers show it sat around for a while and sold in 71. Also explains the 70's box. As such, the two pieces are comparable.

To be fair, the dial on your example is stunning and I completely agree that the lume looks original.

The watch' face looks much better now with your latest pics. The markers don't appear puffy anymore

There you see how important the presentation is. Even more when a very high price is being asked

I partially agree with you. most retailers didn't give a shit about the box or model of papers at that time. For the serial mumber i rely on chuxk maddox.

thanks
I must ad, before receiving the remark. That I put it beside a 1971 dial that, I know, have paint cracks but in order to show the difference in the depth of the black color and the difference of markers. I know markers are poor on the 1971 dial. And yes the case as some light scratches but has never undergone any polish. Angles are sharp as new IMO.

Chuck Maddox is out-dated. Try Spacefruits' excellent Speedmaster101 or MWO.
