I'm not sure the phrase will be Jacques Chirac's most memorable legacy and as a woman I'm missing a few body parts to truly appreciate it, but since it means you're fine, tant mieux.
Gosh, so many frenchies over here

Well, actually..... let's not get into the difference between male and female anatomy, but technically you do have a pair...... um, how about we just drop the subject? 😬 😉

David thanks for your comment.
Your right on some points, wrong on some others.
The ad could have been more attractive and in fact I will make some new pics with my DSLR. You say yourself you are a noob and no, the dial in not refinished. That is an important point that explains the price. I have another transitional to sell and I won't ask more than 5500 for it.
Saying there is some stains on the dial is simply wrong. The dial is immaculate. I'll take it out of the watch tomorrow.
As for the papers. Most sellers hide the serial number so why should I show them? I'll give them + the papers to a serious potential seller. We must be cautious generally on serial numbers.
Cheers.
have a look at this ad for instance.
http://www.chrono24.com/en/omega/omega-speedmaster-moon-watch-145022-tropical-dial--id4579583.htm
The price is about 9000 euros. the dial is said to be tropical but it's not obvious. the plots are not mint at all actually. The bezel in not DON, the movement as some staines. there are no papers and box. I'm not sure the crystal is origianl. I stop here because I'm beginning to criticize someone else's watch even if it's an Chrono24

I didn't say the dial was refinished. I said the dial was nice and looked like it has original lume.

Perhaps it's the pics or dust, but it does look like it has marks in one of the pics.

I'm not really to blame. I just put and ad for a friend with the price he asked. not such a big deal if I may say so in that particular case. This are "just" watches. We are all crazy anyway to pay several month of salary for a watch. Our passion can be called ludicrous or indecent.
As for a lower offer, That how it works nop? I mean generally.
Everybody should calm down a bit in the positive sense.

Like I said, a seller can ask whatever they want. I have no issue with a watch if it's honest. I just won't buy it if the price is too high.

And you would be right. We must be some kind of children. If I want 3000 for a watch i list it a 3200, someone offere me 2950 and everybody is happy. I suppose this is what we call human nature.

Agreed. I always figure in Paypal & shipping costs to my asking price.

As far as childish..... well, you can be immature as long as you aren't irresponsible.

Of course, I'm batshit crazy and take silly offers somedays. 😜

Ben oui, allo quoi?

Believe me, whatever you're referring to is not what the phrase refers to. 🙄 (And you're right, let's drop the subject).

You see this is the point I'd like to push a bit on. I don't believe the OP should be selling for a friend as, in my view, it bypasses the 200 rule, but of course fair play to him for being up front on the matter but I don't think that resolves anything other than slightly distance himself from, and again in my view, an overly ambitious price at USD13,700. The member could have advised and/or refused to use his membership and must have realised that it would be contentious. As for price, sure, ask what you want, let me ask $20,000 for my own 321 (pm me if interested please) just in case I can drag my net over someone with a lot of money and little knowledge that has been living under an OF rock. Not going to happen. As for taking a chill pill, I advise one of these and a long lie down

I think it is extremely disrespectful to openly criticize a member's price or condition for an item for sale, even more so when it is on the seller's thread. In fact I see it as form of bullying and extortion. In my opinion the sale is between two parties: the seller and the buyer, others should keep their opinions to themselves unless called upon. A potential buyer who wants more information about the value or condition can discreetly connect with other members via the messaging system.

True to a point but that respect can arguably be diminished if the person selling is not a member. It's not bullying or extortion and that's a very long bow to draw. Can't see the logical flow there at all.

You are, of course, correct about being disrespectful - except I think the "bullying and extortion" is a little more extreme description than what was happening.

However, there is a certain amount of brutal honesty permitted, and actually encouraged, here when it comes to watches offered - whether it's about originality or price. It just should not happen in the seller's For Sale listing.

Agree, ulackfocus, with the general principle, and I will always attempt to adhere to that as someone respectfully did to me recently, and I was very grateful for a discrete and respectful pm so as to help me qualify and correct my terms. We agree, but I think what happened was a floodgate was assisted in being opened not only by an overly ambitious price but by the fact that this was not the sellers own listing - that, in turn, almost removes the bar; another reason why I don't think it's in the spirit of the 200 post rule. 😀

I think I wish I had stayed up last night so I could have followed as this played out. All good grist for the mill, me thinks.

All I ask is that prices don't outpace my means. I haven't bought a speedy in a few months, and I'm getting itchy.

All I ask is that my wife doesn't sell my Speedy collection for what I told her I paid for them...

(I know, I know, an oldie but a goodie...)

Hi blubarb

So far I've been patient and polite but your comment is way out of line. WTF do you think you are to make a comment on my honnesty? I don't really care how much you ask for your speedy if you want to sell it. May be you should show it to us instead of speculating on a 20 000 price. As far as I know, may be except in north Korea or Cuba, prices are freely decided.
As for your opinion on my intention of "f... someone" or "f... all" on this forum, did I scammed anybody here so far? I don't think so.
You judegement on the distance that I would take for selling it for a friend is nonsense too. I take the full responsability of the sale, I'll take the moneay on my bank account or on my paypal account so you're being ludicrous. I'm not a child and responsible enough to say it's a friend's watch or it's mine. If it's not in the rules an and OP tells me not to, I will correct my ad without any complaint. It'as not the case so far.
dragging someone in my net? ho do you think I am? Cosa Nostra? bullshit.
The funny thing without any provocation is, so far, noone showed me an ad of a full set transitional in the same condition for sale for 8000 dollars. Still waiting.
