Just this advertised as an Evil Clapton, but I thought one with the white dial is called a Panda dial, and it's worth significantly less? Sorry for the noob question but I was astounded by the price.

Clapton wore the panda dial, its far less common than the black dial.

Thanks guys. So the white panda dial Tri-Compax is known as the "Clapton"? But why "evil"?

And what are the condition issues?

The black dial one is the "Evil Clapton." Because it is the opposite of the white dial. It is a yin-yang thing.

It's a variant of the "Nina" and "Evil Nina" to denote white and black dial V72 Compaxes.

And I believe our own @MMMD is responsible for the Evil Clapton moniker. So you have to use it, because it is kind of brilliant - allusive & snarky & knowing at the same time. Instant cred.

What look like bubbles in the dial. Top of minute counter etc. I'd not buy this without a personal inspection. Its been discussed privately.

Right, but the watch for sale has a white dial, and yet it's referred to in the ad as an "evil Clapton", which is why I got confused.

Yes, that's in error. Reveals the seller to have important shortcomings as a person.;)

Thanks. I haven't looked UG for a couple of years, but wow surely prices have changed since then! I'm sure I saw a Clapton for MUCH less than that back then.
