Is this Omega watch authentic?

I'm planning to purchase my first Omega watch for my upcoming birthday. I came across one online that I'm interested in buying.

It is offered as a 14k gold watch. How can I verify this?

Could someone confirm its authenticity and provide information on its value? This would greatly help me ensure that I make a well-informed purchase at a fair price.

Thanks in advance!

Yes it appears quite genuine and in lovely condition. We really need to see photos of the movement and inside the case back for further evaluation.

Thank you for your response; I appreciate it!

The seller, who is not a watch specialist, mentioned that he inherited it. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any pictures of the inside and is unsure how to open it himself.

Could you provide an estimate of the watch's value and authenticity based on the pictures?

Try ebay for "omega geneve 14k" completed sales for a value.

Thank you for your response; I appreciate it! I've tried looking it up on eBay but couldn't find the exact same watch to make a good value estimation.

What is the asking price? It’s much easier if all the info is shared from the start.

Had the seer confirmed the diameter of the watxh?

It doesn't have to be identical to get a ball park value. A gold geneve in similar condition will be about the same price unless it is a special rare dial.

Thank you for your response! The asking price is 950 euro. I've requested information on the diameter of the watch but haven't received a response yet. Could you estimate the watch's value based on this information and the pictures?

Thanks for your response. I've encountered various variations and prices, making it challenging for me to provide an accurate estimation. I would appreciate receiving insider-based estimations.

Not a ridiculous asking price but I would absolutely need to see the movement and inside the case back as I mentioned earlier.

It depends on the size. Standard men’s watches from the 50’s to early 70’s are 34mm. If it’s smaller, 31 or 32mm then you’re towards the point where value is basically scrap price of the gold.
If it’s 34mm then probably €700-900 if it’s in good condition.

Here’s a comparison:
https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-geneve-14k-solid-gold-reduced-675€.144185/

Thanks a lot for your expertise. The watch is 33 mm. The watch is from 1969. How does that affect the value?

I understand. I'm considering asking him to stop by a jeweler to take a picture of the inside.

On the smaller size of acceptable, $750.00 - $800.00 USD.

Just as an FYI for the OP, 33mm is pretty small. You might be disappointed if you are not accustomed to such small watches. I assume you can see it in person and try it on your wrist.

Once you’re at 33mm for a basic Geneve I personally think you’re at the gold price plus maybe 10-20%

Thanks for sharing your estimation. I appreciate it. I'm going to check if there is room for negotiation.

Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge! That's an interesting perspective on finding the right estimation. Do you happen to know the value of the gold in this 33 mm watch?

Good call! I'll take a look at my other watches, but my wrist isn't very big either. It might look good, but I'll certainly take your feedback into consideration!

If it’s too small then it’s not a bargain as you won’t wear it. I would find a way to try on 33 mm watch first most will find it very small.
