Is the cal. 1002 worth the “trouble”?

No idea, but I don't believe the crystal should be sitting substantially above the gasket.
I don’t mean to beat a dead horse, but I got my boxing gloves on. Below are two examples I’ve seen online, one with the “120m./400ft.” printed and one with just “120”. Both seem to have a mighty raised crystal above the bezel. It was my understanding, via other examples and here, the crystal should barely sit below the bezel. Are these pics examples optical illusions or just replacement crystals?

Only reason I’m double checking, with my recent “120” search, I kinda eliminated all 166.088’s in which the crystal seemed to sit well above the bezel. I don’t someone else possibly making the same mistake I did by automatically eliminating beautiful “120”’s out there. Thanks again.

I think that puts a nice bow on this [piece of] thread, haha. Thanks everyone! I’m a little bit smarter today. Who knows about tomorrow?!

By all means if you want to buy one and send it to me, I'll tell you if there are issues with the way the crystal is installed, but other than that I'd just be guessing.

Thank you for the offer!! I did buy one and the crystal sits exactly as you described earlier. So I’m pretty confident I’m good. I was just asking to learn why some sit above or below. Just for knowledge. Thanks again @Archer!

Thanks again guys for all the help! I got my 166.088 “120m” baby blue seconds. The seller said it was running at +6/day and it is! Still going to take in for a service. The 1002 needs to start fresh for me.

Didn’t come with the original bracelet, so I’m on the hunt for the 1171/650. For now I’m going with the blue soft leather. Two pics below, let me know what strap you like. The leather or Nato style?

I think both work well, with the leather just winning out for me. I like the idea of dive style watches wearing a rugged and maybe slightly worn leather strap “in retirement”, but the Marine Nationale style strap is cool, too.

just noticed how similar the hands are to those on my Mk I Dynamic (see avatar)!

I agree @wilderbeast, the “vintage” leather is winning for me too. The hands on yours are much fresher, either way, I love this combo. I like the “Nato”, but I’m looking for a solid “baby blue” coloring. Thanks for a the help and stay healthy!

Not entirely solid, but I have this Sky Blue NATO from Watch Obsession. Obviously wasn’t bought for the Dynamic, but not a bad match for the second hand:

Thank you sir for the offer. I should have said that I’m first looking for the 1171/650 Omega bracelet, which could set me back a sum. A solid baby blue will find me. No rush. Thanks again.

As far as reliability goes, I've owned mine just a short time but there were no issues before servicing or after. Though the movement is 50 years old the Omega specialist found no problems with it, with nothing needing replacement besides the mainspring ($29.99) and gaskets. It runs at +3 seconds. As said above, this movement was made to be thin, presumably to make the watch more wearable. In the case of the Seamaster 200 model 166.091 I can attest to that. From looking at the case design you'd think it'd be chunky but the bezel diameter is a moderate 40.7mm with a 41mm case. The thickness is only 11.5mm. Beautiful watch.
