I truly understand those statements @Gav1967 and @ErichPryde 😀

To tell you the truth i'm a collector of a certain brand : Vintage Certinas.
I'm pretty active on the Certina threads and I might say i might even be trusted by some fellow older members as I only post and share picture ans answer questions about certains topics, and try to be as pertinent and helpfull as i can be. I regularly sell some vintage Certinas, and I woulds so much prefer to sell it to fellow Certina fans of this forum than on ebay or Cr24

I even already sold a Certina bracelet through messaging to a member who has been posting on the same Thread (an who has thousands of posts)

Yeah it's true i might not trust a 200 post person either...but you know what...i'll wait for the 201st post to sell ^^

You could get closer if you posted some pictures. You know we love pictures!

Well for what i'm concerned, i wish i could reach the 200 post limit so i can sell on OF
i've been on the forum for a while but i guess i'm not very talkative
It took me several years to hit 200 posts. I was probably a member here for nearly ten years before I sold my first watch on here. But, then again, selling watches has never been my goal.

Just to chime in, the latest approach being thrown at me is "I am buying this as a gift for a friend, but I am over my budget."

Also, a few months ago I was selling a PO LMLE. I got a message saying "I was wondering if you can find it in your heart to gift this to me. I have always wanted a watch like this, but I can't afford it."

I'm not joking, that's what they sent me.

Good reply is "Sorry, you just missed it. I just gave it away 5 minutes ago."

Lol the irony is that I had just sold it the night prior. So I let him know and wished him good luck on finding a free luxury watch. Unsurprisingly, I didn't get a reply.

Well, I tend to respond in just the same way as the inquiries drop in. Just recently on a local internet marketplace ("Kleinanzeigen.de", an eBay spin-off):

"Hello price?"
Me: "Hello advert"

Took me just 10 seconds and never again heard of the fellow. If I am in a good mood, I might spend even a word more than I get. Another inquiry:

"Hello 700€?" (which was about half the asking price and way below gold scrap value)
Me: "Hello too much!"

It is nice, if one does not need (or really want) to sell ....

Cheers, Bernhard

It is interesting to see how the lowball nature of buyers is a global thing

I'm willing to negotiate if you make a reasonable offer, or at least express it decently. Common sense seems to be the less common of all with the majority of buyers, though.

This was an example of I'd rather keep the watch than sell to you at any price.

After multiple "observations" on condition, that were all already factored into the price, I get this exchange. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not doing business with someone like this.

I think you just got an opportunity to do so. Without breaking any forum rules. You look like a genuine collector and I feel glad you got a lucky break. Good luck with sales as I am sure you would have got a few PMs.

11 years and I'm still inching up the post count. Another 3.5 to go at this rate.

Preliminary (0): have the money before you contact the seller. If that means needing to sell watches, sell your watches.

Don't spend days arranging a video conference to view every angle and examine every scratch in microscopic detail before saying you need to sell some watches first.
