Is Omega Losing Its Way? Price Hikes and Brand Criticism

I think it comes from different angles.

They have raised prices a lot recently.

Their design choices as of late are challenging to many Omega fans.

The Omega X Swatch Moonswatch Speedmaster went from something niche and "cool" to the typical over-released / too many models that the regular Speedmaster suffers from.
Plus the fact that it's harder to get a real one than a Rolex..

It's because you had started the cat-bombing several pages previously and it wasn't noticed..
I am so sorry. I was unaware that noticing was required, further more I forgot that I had "Cat Bombed" this tread earlier. Always nice to see some cats, so I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.

And with that said here is another one.

It was actually ME who cat-bombed it at first, so my comment was more of a you 'starting cat bombing', when I already had 😁

That said, cat-pology accepted.

Cats never notice other people or other cats. Purr-fectly normal cat behaviour.

In Omega news, they just introduced the Constellation Observatory line while discontinuing the Globemaster.

A two-handed automatic for over $10K? Thoughts?

Two steps forward, two steps back....

There's a thread about it over here. Sentiment overall seems pretty negative. I've seen similar on social media today.

Looks too big IMHO. Should have kept to vintage proportions with a 36mm case diameter and 42-45mm lug-to-lug. Thickness is passable. And why not have a central seconds hand if it's chronometer rated? A bit disappointed with this release. Could have been so much better as a dress watch.

A bit disappointed with this release.
Yes, I agree, I was more impressed with the latest Seiko release I saw today.

The new Longines Hydroconquest that has just come out is also very, very good.

Agree. Good looking watch. Sharp pricing. And it comes in 39mm and 42mm case sizes. Lug-to-lugs are long though (48mm and 51mm), which is a bit disappointing as it rules out my slim wrists.

The problem is you are referring to people who have to make money by slamming brand or bigging them up.

I have always gone by the idea that if I like it and it sings me that’s all that matters. Explains my collection so very quirky to some but it’s what I like.
I have a variety of brands and just buy what I like.

That is called being balanced 😎

Some people attach themselves to brands or sports teams in what can be an unhealthy way.

I have one friend who collects Lego, Schtroumpf characters and a couple of other things, he trades them too and usually makes a bit of money on the side.

Then I know another guy who has a small room dedicated to Michael Schumacher's racing career with Ferrari. It is full of poster, car models, helmet miniatures, coins, plaques, anything and everything you could imagine. He was eyeing an Omega Michael Schumacher Edition Speedmaster, but would not buy it used, it could only be new (he wasn't going to wear it, just display it in his Schumi Shrine Room).

The worst part? He was married with three children. A boy and two girls. The youngest has to share a room with her sister because what should have been her room was the Schumi Shrine Room. I firmly believe that is one of the major reasons for the divorce.

This reminds me of some of the Rolex owners I had seen on WUS 10 years ago. Lording it over others that they have a Rolex. Good grief, get a life.

Did anyone actually watch the videos on Andrew M’s though? YouTube is my tv nowadays and I get a lot of videos on the watch industry, it’s nothing but drama, from Nico insulting Roman, to Teddy’s amazingly put videos and Producer Michael’s expensive ventures, however, there was another influencer that I watched last week talking about how he thinks Swatch is ruining their brands including omega and you know, I don’t disagree. I don’t hate on the moonswatch but it’s not attracting the customers Omega thought it would either way. I’m not going to lie though 95% of omega content there is positive, but when we start paying more for less of course others are going to voice their opinions imho.

It’s funny that the moonswatches are still 30 meter water resistant though lol

Ps. I’m kind of low key happy they haven’t released an updated 300 m diver model yet for said reasons, it will probably retail for 7,200 usd

Please elaborate?
I have been really busy, I'm sorry. God willing, I'll explain it in a new project I'm working on.
