Is my Omega genuine

so I've recently just purchased this redial seamaster and just wanting a little advice if this is genuine I can't seem to find much about the case number that's stamped in the back it's 166.0161 it has been refurbished so possibly a different back cover? But the case lugs and top bezel that split all look good from my eyes.It does have a movement serial number showing an age of 1974 /cal both on the little round sticker. Not like some where is stamped beside. The cal is 1010. Thanks

I’m answer to your question, yea it’s genuine.

Obviously you bought it aware that it has been redialed. Hopefully it was cheap.

You have the case no. - 166.0161.

Most colllectors wouldn’t buy a redial, but if you want a black dial and a re happy with a redial, at least you haven’t paid a premium.

Honestly I'm just trying to get them cheep and holding them for 10 years + and see what happens I currently have 8 different models most automatic few quartz which I've picked up for a little over £1500. I appreciate your help and time. Thankyou

My thoughts exactly Im new to collecting just over a month and my money sitting in the bank isn't doing anything lol so I thought I give it a go. I might make a new post of my collection of Omegas at some point would love to get over people's views an opinions on them.

I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this, but redialed vintage watches do not appreciate in value over time. Refinishing the dial of a vintage watch ruins its collectible value.

That's fair enough looks like I'm going to have to find one for parts to swap out the dial's maybe in no rush. Just a nice one to add to the collection of 7 .. I appreciate your comment thanks

As others have noted, it’s fine if you just want the watch to look new for every day wear. It just won’t appreciate in value with a restored dial.

If you want a nice-ish black dial Omega and don’t care that it’s redialed, then it isn’t bad for £250.

However, if you want a nice collection, or one that has a chance of being desirable, collectible and valuable in the future, you really need to focus on quality over quantity. With £1500 you can fairly easily pick up 2, maybe 3 very nice, original Omegas. Picking through the bargain bin will generally leave you worse off.

As a functional way to tell time, old mechanical watches will only continue to decrease in value. As collectibles, they may increase. Nobody can guarantee that a watch will increase in value, but if you want to give yourself a chance, buying cheap watches without collectible value is not the best approach, IMO. Take that $1500 and buy one or two good watches.

I need to get the quartz at the bottom left looked at or some help on here to get it working and the Geneve top middle needs looking at all the rest as good working condition bar some non original straps.. would love to know your thoughts.

Nice collection of daily drivers, wear them and enjoy them. Hopefully they will keep up with inflation, but in ten years time they will need a service and that will hurt (obliterate) your profit.

Yea 100% probably won't get them serviced. Tho if they are sat in a box for a number of years are they likely to seize up ??

Wat-1 welcome to OF. If you would like opinions on your other watches best to present them one at a time and you will get honest opinions. But to be clear, nobody here thinks that buying redialed and low end watches is a good investment. Don’t misinterpret the tongue in cheek comment. That’s not to say you can’t enjoy wearing them.
