True, and further, some people are just irrational about it.

I once went to a party, and was wearing a used two-tone Datejust. I think I paid $1400 for it. The host says to me, “Whoa, look at Mr. Fancy Pants with his Rolex!” Meanwhile, sitting in his driveway was a $60,000 boat on a trailer. I guess if you smell like fish, you can’t be extravagant...

Pretty much the same for anyone who buys and drives a Porsche Boxter S - it's a $6000 car and people act like you are made of money. No dude, this cost less than a 10 year old used Civic.

Yellow boxed Invictas seem to be the Beanie Babies of older white dudes that otherwise know nothing about watches. And they all think they are getting some massive bargain that they are going to turn around and sell for a lot of money. A friend of my father in law's passed away, and even that guy, who did know about watches (had literally over a thousand stacked away) had a huge collection of Invictas as well. His wife after he passed was trying to sell them for thousands of dollars due to the MSRPs that were in all the packages, and simply wouldn't hear it that they were basically worth next to nothing.

I'll occasionally look at estate liquidation websites and the pre-sale pictures often have a large table stacked with 50-100 of those yellow cases as well, with the occasional black or orange one thrown in depending on the model - and with prices like $250 each.

The local Craigslist always has some Invictas posted, and I have to laugh when I see some of them with $500-$1,000 asking prices. ::facepalm1::
OTOH, I peruse the local CL with the hope of finding a real gem among the usual detritus; so far, I've struck out. 😀

Just learned that Invicta made a Ltd. Ed. Platinum and 18k gold watch in a series of 100.
One for sale here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Invicta-Li...Gold-Automatic-Swiss-Mens-Watch-/193029748080

From the listing, emphasis mine; "In a move to prove that Invicta is capable of producing high end watches, the company introduced a 100 piece limited edition of a watch that president Eyal Lalo said is the first mass produced platinum and 18kt gold watch. This watch, called the Limited Edition Invicta Platinum Automatic, uses a modified Valjoux 2892-17 movement in a case of solid 18K rose gold with a platinum bezel."

At least this one has some scrap value.

Y’all missed the point.
The more you buy, the more you saved.
Who wouldn’t want to save $980. I know I do.
Buy an Invicta!!!

It’s basic math. You buy ten watches, you saved 10grands.
Imagine what you can do with the 10grands you saved each month!
Buy an Invicta to start living the life you want now!

Old thread, but after watching a few favourable reviews on YouTube I decided to buy the two-tone pro diver automatic - I can see why some people rave about their value as it does look decent and mine is keeping time to within a couple of seconds a day out of the box. I liked it so much I then purchased the classic steel version, and again it's keeping time to within a couple of seconds a day. I even purchased the blue quartz model and that is keeping time to within a couple of seconds a month. The bezel action is actually better/smoother on the quartz funnily enough, and it wears better thanks to being a fraction thinner. To be fair I couldn't have asked for more considering the total cost for the three was around £225, and although I wouldn't take them in salt water after seeing Richard Perrett's bezel repair video (posted earlier in the thread), I would personally recommend the pro diver as a great value proposition. The joke for me as a Seadweller 16600 owner is whether I'm wearing the Rolex or the Invicta I still get asked if it's a Submariner!

There is absolutely no better value in watches than the Invicta Pro Diver automatic. Can still easily be had for around $70 - cheaper than the old style seiko 5s and better case/bracelet/etc. I honestly don't know how they do it, considering they cost less than a similar sub homage off of ebay or Aliexpress. If only they didn't have INVICTA engraved on the side! Otherwise I think they would be an incredible modding platform. The cyclops is easy to remove if you don't like it either.

A guy in the office was wearing an all-white Invicta, bracelet, face, case, everything was sparkling white. It looked like ceramic but what do I know? Before seeing what it was, I asked him if he was a watch guy? “Oh yeah,” he said. “I’ve got Invictas, lots of watches. I love them.” He’s Black, and the white contrast against his skin color was dramatic. Seeing that the majority of my own watches tend toward toward white on SS, I commented that “Oh yeah, I like white faces.”

There was that slightest of hesitation as we both realized what I’d said. Recovering gracefully, I carried on talking watches. 🤦

Lol - yes we've all got stuck at cross-purposes at some time mate! So long as you could both laugh about it!

I've got 3 Invicta pro divers 200 and 300 meter rated and I got to say they are the only dive watches I take when I am in the sea or the pool, build quality is superb.
Though to be fair now I have a Seiko PADI that sees sea action as well.
