Introduction

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to join.

I'm relatively new to watch collecting, having really gotten into the hobby over the last couple of years. The watch that sparked my interest was a Baume & Mercier handed down from my grandfather. After sitting in a drawer for years, I pulled it out, got it running again, threw on a new strap, and unexpectedly found myself going down the watch rabbit hole.

Over the last couple of years I've owned a handful of watches, most of which were short lived. Today my collection has settled into three pieces that I expect will be sticking around for the long haul:

• Baume & Mercier - My family heirloom.
• Grand Seiko - My trusty daily/beater.
• Omega Speedmaster - My milestone watch and current favorite.

The Speedmaster came into my collection earlier this year after a promotion/anniversary at work and has quickly become my most-worn piece. It's a 2014 3570.50, complete set, and was serviced by Omega in 2022. I started out searching for a 3861 Sapphire Sandwich, but ended up finding a great deal on this 1861 and have absolutely no regrets. A nice surprise, when I installed a Spiralwinder display caseback I saw the original was marked 4/22 from its last service. That just so happens to be the same month/year my daughter was born, so that was pretty neat to find.

Outside of watches, I'm an engineer, husband, and father of two young kids. This forum has already been a great resource to me and I'm looking forward to learning more from everyone here.

Fun fact, the wood background in my photos is a step stool my kids use to wash their hands in the bathroom...I am certainly living up to my username while taking those pictures

Yep, mine are 4 and 2 and every day seems to be more and more chaotic 😅 I find the watch forums to be relatively calming

That was my fancy way of saying I put a battery in it 😅 luckily I had some tiny screw drivers laying around, coincidentally also handed down from grandpa
