Hi all, per advice below I'll start with a little introduction. Here to join the community as I start may search for my. first omega watch. Very excited about this process. More concerned with if the watch aligns with my taste (prefer vintage, gold, classic mid-century design) rather than perhaps the most sought after watches, but of course am looking to make a smart investment as well. Currently living in socal. Nice to meet you!

As an aside, any thoughts on ID/authenticity of this watch? Thanks very much!!

The photos are quite poor, but I will hazard the opinion that it is probably legit, but not desirable. I think you may get more engagement and better advice if you introduce yourself and provide some context for your questions. Welcome to the OF community.

Thank you!! Per your advice, updated the posting.
Just for my knowledge, not desirable based on the general esthetics of this particular watch? Or the condition of this piece?

Aesthetics and general quality. I really can't judge condition from those photos. It's an entry-level gold-plated piece from an era that is not generally considered the golden age of vintage Omega. If you like it, that's fine, but it has narrow appeal and it's definitely not an investment. And if you find it needs work, laying out several hundred for a service might be hard to swallow.

The model is not necessarily desirable from a collector standpoint. The reference number is 166.0141 and it's from the 1970s. The pictures aren't great so it's hard to tell the general quality of the watch. This reference has been discussed here before as well.

My advice is to be patient with your search. I'd also recommend finding something from a little earlier than this, preferably 1960s. If you're set on gold then just be aware of the problems that come with gold plating wear. Welcome also.

Thank you both for your insight. Great knowledge to have. Do you know of a reputable online service to authenticate/value omega watches? trying to figure out what a reasonable price would be to pay for this watch. Thanks again for the welcome

Best place to start is look up sold items on eBay and see if a similar model recently sold.

Super cool if your into gold and that 70’s vibe esp since it should be very affordable. I’d guess under 500… assuming it looks ok under good lighting.

This could have a 752 inside too by the way, with this era watch it's like 50/50 if there's no separator between the day and the date
