As I didn't see it being mentioned in the previous posts:
Especially the 4 hours arrowhead marker (but also the 5 hours arrowhead) sticks out - it doesn't align with the hour marker.
Well spotted. I actually did raise that concern about the 6 hour marker.

Thanks for taking the time of your sunday to help a fellow enthusiast out. I really appreciate it!

Well, the differences are not subtle. I’d say it’s a completely different font!

Is the font used on the pic you posted the only one used on Constellations? If so, then that would help me eliminate a great deal of watches i come across eBay daily, as I’d say around 40% of the them use a different font.

@STANDY thanks for reference. I will start digging through his posts shortly! Appreciated

Ok, so let us see if I have learned anything from this thread today. This watch also has a touched up dial because the font does not match that which came with Constellation and it is missing the Swiss Made label. Am i correct?

Also, and just ad important, the lugs have been polished to death; so smooth they could slide uphill

Minute markers also completely wrong.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on having your freedom and being able to mark the milestone of your life with such a prize.

Just to add, remember that the Connie had a long run- there were changes made during each generation, including the details of the small print font and slight changes to the “Constellation”, although the style of the font itself didn’t change, markers hands, even the lack of the star on later models...so many changes. Omega was usually consistent within a product line and generation but there were some anomalies like a few dials marked with a T for Tritium lume but no lume on the dial or hands- but this is the exception not the rule.

There were several variation on the “Swiss made” over time from just “Swiss”, to “Swiss Made”, to T Swiss Made T” and sometimes just “T Swiss Made”- the T is for Tritium which was the lume used after they switched from radium around 1962’ish. Tell tale on a redial sometimes is a 50’s era Connie with “T Swiss Made T”. But a 60’s Connie with Onyx markers and hands will just say “Swiss Made” without the T’s. Familiarize yourself with a specific generation as knowing all of them can take years of research. I am still learning with just the Seamasters!

As said above, the classified’s here are usually a very safe place to get an honest example and if you’re patient, you will be rewarded.
Don’t jump on anything without checking here first, the collective knowledge here is amazing and everyone is willing to help you keep from making a regrettable mistake.

I know very little about Constellations but have some ideas about redials that have been outlined elsewhere in this thread. My advice would be to invoke that virtue called patience, a good example will turn up there have certainly been some nice ones for sale on OF in the not too distant past.

50% of the fun is in the chase !!
