Hi all there,
it seems that I am one of the few already owning an Omega Speedmaster Professional X-33 Marstimer. Actually this is my second X-33 as I already own a 1st Gen X-33. So I decided to join this helpfull forum. When I purchased my 1st Gen I you we're the ones helping me with lots of information and details resulting into this...
I bought the X-33 with the original titanium bracelet, but added the black 1st Gen Kevlar-strap and the 2nd Gen red and green Kevlar-straps.
So today I hope to give something back with some real life pics and impressions of the 4th Gen X-33 Marstimer - not only repeating Omega® Press releases
😉
If you are interested I posted an in depth review in the German uhrforum.de

Otherwise some pics in a nutshell and two hidden eastereggs/major improvements compared to the X-33 Skywalker, Solar Impulse and Regatta.
First the two sisters or may be aunts together, compared by age difference

Menuelevel 2
- MTC (Mars Time Coordinated)

You switch between the two menue levels by pushing the crown for 2 seconds. Then Switch through the subfuntions with the right up or down button. If you have reached the function you want to set up, you confirm it by a short push of the crown. A "0" will show in the LCD-display. Now keep the left down button pressed until the LCD starts flashing and start set up.

Eastereggs/Major improvements
Compared to the X-33 Skywalker and Solar Impulse the Marstimer brings Back two functions the 1st and 2nd Gen X-33 already had but were dropped with the introduction of the Skywalker.
The energy saving mode to put the LCD asleep doesn't anymore require not to use any of the digital functions for 5 days. You just pull the crown anf the LCD-display turns of whilst the hands move to the 12-position. This energy function was also available at the Skywalker, Solar Impulse and Regatta. The difference shows when you press the crown back in. With the Marstimer the hands move from the 12-positon to the actual T1-time, but the LCD-display stays off until you touch one of the buttons. With the further mentioned Skywalker, Solar Impulse and Regatta the LCD-display sprang back to life when pushing the crown back.
Not a really essential function, but nice to have, hence it makes the watch face cleaner.
But the major and most improvement to me is that now the light-mode of the LCD-display doesn't turn neccessarily off after 5 seconds. If you switch during these 5 seconds of illumination to a function you want to set, you hold the left down button pressed to change into setup mode. Now the light will turn off while the hands do their motion not to block the view. Once the hands have reached their out of view-position light will go on automatically and you will be able to set up the function with lighted up LCD-display.
Now, unless you don't press a button while setting up the function for 5 seconds or confirm your settings by the left down button, light will stay on during the whole set ip of the function you need.
As said before this is finally bringing back funtionalities the 1st and 2nd Gen X-33 already had.
Hope to relate helpfull information to someone.
