Short addition: Beware that there are replicas/new manufactured metal bands from Asia. The middle part, who connects to the case, is too thick and you can not close that band correctly to the case. Which make it prone to loosing your watch. Ask sellers about that and get very good close up pictures.

according to a jeweler, the strap was permanently attached to the case, so i cannot switch bands. i believe the strap to be original to the watch, but that's to be confirmed by someone more knowledgeable than myself.

Is your avatar picture one of those red, white and blue Ramblers? 👍
yes! a cop stopped me and wanted a photo w/the car. even tho it was quite rare, i grew tired of it and sold it. my friends were beside themselves. it was so original there was nothing i could do with the car to improve it or "make it mine." kind of like vintage watches--restore/refurbish or as-is conundrum.

i know that for organizations consistency in applying procedures fairly is a challenge.
i was told that in order to present a WTB ad, i'd have to post at least 200 times. well,
in my watch journey on this forum i have run across several other posters who don't
have anywhere near 200 posts who are asking questions about watches they'd like to buy.
i don't get how they get away with it, yet i have been admonished and warned about this rule.
is it selectively applied? must be. for example: https://omegaforums.net/threads/is-this-dynamic-a-good-choice.156646/

It’s not being selectively applied; you must have 200 posts to create a FS or WTB ad. There’s a distinction with the link that you provided in that it is a watch that the poster has come across on their own in the wild and is asking for advice here on OF. That’s not a WTB ad.

There are grey areas but as @TrboDieselPwrd says, there’s a difference between someone asking for advice on a watch they’re already looking at and someone saying they’re looking for a watch, is anyone selling or have any leads.

Of course there can be ‘back door sales or wtb posts and the mods do a great job of using their discretion as to where to draw the line.

I did it myself on my first post as well. I didn't make a WTB but it was definitely unintentionally couched as a "hey I want a watch like this, who has one?". It was mentioned and I adjusted and now I'm a post-aholic.

i have been admonished and warned about this rule.

If you notice, you have not been admonished by any staff. Although I have had the occasional disagreement, staff here are usually more lenient than the peanut gallery 😁

Exactly this. Also, I should add that these "What's your opinion of this watch" or "Vintage Omega Watch Help" or "Found this old watch in my grandpa's sock drawer", or "Thinking about buying this watch" threads are well received here and you'll get lots of helpful responses from the knowledgeable folks -- if you couldn't already tell from this thread.

Welcome, stay awhile. If you like watches, Omega or otherwise, this is a great place to be. FWIW I'm slowly working up to 200 myself!

Since we’ve already taken a bit of a segue in this direction, I’m curious if WTB posts here actually garner much attention and results. I suppose there are enough collectors here looking to cull the herd they may look through them sometimes? It just seems like a total shot in the dark to me.

I fell in love with Dynamics shortly after joining the forums here. These are projects waiting in the wings.

here is a link to a watch I found in Moldava. https://omegaforums.net/threads/help-i-am-addicted-to-ebay.149400/page-2#post-2054374

It actually is a whole thread about eBay and all the Rabbit holes one can go down. I thought I had a dedicated thread to this watch. Seems I pepper references to it in my other posts. Eventually when I do go to clean it and the triplets they will get their own threads.

I have yet, even after nearly 1000 posts, placed a WTB here. I think it is more that I am looking for cheap stuff. and very specific things. A lot of people over value spare parts. So one has to deal with the bay which I am sort of indifferent too. I also search material dealer websites. Since most modern companies do not give any thought to repair. Most of the older material is well picked over. Often to get a part one has to get a partial watch, and hope that the needed part is not too worn out. This in turn leaves one with yet another collection of project parts.

I suspect what many are looking for are specific things. A lot of the fun is the impulse purchase. WTB sort of goes against this. WTB also in a way signals despiration. I have another project watch which is a Val-72. Here I have written many posts and 1000s of words about this project. I suppose I could have posted a WTB for the rusted parts. Instead I have found most of them over 6 months. It seems totally random what is available in the price range.

Waiting for parts also can cause distractions and explorations of new rabbit holes.

Anyway welcome to the forums ...
