I got a box with around 30 vintage watches in all kinds of conditions and shapes really.

Hello 0gremagi and welcome to the forum!
Could you please show us the other 27 watches as well?
There is a chance that you've received some nice watches which we might identify. And even if there isn't a hidden treasure, I would love to see the other watches as well 👍

Others may disagree, but I personally would rather not have the previous owner's name polished out. Watches have a history, it's never going to be passed off as new, so I kind of like knowing even a little bit about what that history was.

The others here have said it all. The named watch is a beauty, and once serviced you might be surprised how accurate it is when fully wound. The name on the back wouldn't be a big deal to me and it's too deep to remove anyway. This watch would look great on a tan leather strap, and there's something extra enjoyable about one you've got for nothing. Have it fixed, wear it and learn to love it. You don't get that build quality anymore.

keep at least one. I would also like to see the other watches if you were interested in posting them. You may have a corker in there that you don't realise.

I think the "best" one is a redial.

Some markers are inconsistent, SWISS MADE is off.

Jim in Oz, I think you're right there, but that said, it is an older redial. Personally, I would keep that one as on a nice leather it would make for a very presentable watch with some nice character. I would say that the other two would easily fetch enough on Ebay to pay for the service of the better one.

Always looking on the bright side 😀
It's a cruel world and I'm not one to be a pollyanna.

Could be. But could also be the glass, because the scripts and the overall condition look rather good.
