I recently received this watch from my Grandfather and would like to know a little bit more about it. It has a completely sterile case back. Thank you all for the help!

Hi Kevin,
I’m sure others, more knowledgeable than me, will share their expertise with you but it looks like an older watch (40s/50s/60s) that has been redialled or altered.

I can see lume dots on the dial indices but no lume on the hands, which is a worry. So, possible redial, possibly wrong hands.

It would help to see a photo of the movement and the inside caseback.

It’s hard to tell from the pics, but I think they hands are lumed.

There is lume on the hands. So that is OK.

Looks like a US market watch since it says “Swiss” on the dial. This one looks like the closest match on the Omega Vintage Database:

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-seamaster-omega-st-166-0013

Please note that not all Seamasters were marked as such. Most Omegas with logos or medallions on the back were also available with plain backs for personalized engraving.

But the only way to know for sure would be to have a qualified watchmaker open the watch and take pictures of the inside caseback and movement.

Hope this helps,

Decided to open it up if anyone has some input
Sure! All of the information is on the inside of the caseback.

Thanks for all the replies. Any and all information is much appreciated! I'm very much into watches, but the vintage era is completely out of my comfort zone.
