Amen, I still havent worn the tudor blue bay 58 out yet, that i got as a belated 30th birthday present for myself. Some times its hard to wear a new watch. No issues wearing my older rolexes that ive bought used.

Yeah, sometimes it is easier to wear the old watches than risk the new ones. But I bought a Tudor Pepsi GMT last year, specifically to wear on a cruise to the Bahamas with my wife last fall, and at the price I didn’t have a problem wearing it.

But I only got to wear it once for a nice dinner on board, because I’d sized the bracelet for cool 50-70 degree October weather in Colorado, and not for 95 degree tropical Caribbean weather, grrrr.

Then with Covid I’ve gained weight since, sheltering at home (safer with my lung disease) and so I really need to adjust the bracelet or lose 20 lbs. Personally, the Black Bay Red that I traded towards my Sub no date (gone Now) looked better on my wrist than the Tudor Pepsi GMT or the smaller Submariner.

Also given covid and just the general economic situation, ive gotten a few more microbrands into wear to protect the nicer pieces. Im in healthcare, so still essential and we're still out there every day. Not saying I avoid wearing my nice pieces, but just situational awareness.

Congrats on the watch it’s a beauty. I’d be keen to more about the zagg screen protector that you mentioned as I’ve googled it and can’t see anything that’s fit for a watch.

Congratulations on a great watch

But really don't see the point in buying a watch if you're never going to wear it

I get it Larry, but...

As others have said, these things are made to be worn. They are man-made baubles intended to tell the time, nothing more. Like keeping a brand new Ferrari in the garage for fear of a ding. I used to be worse than now, I was paranoid about that sort of thing, but I got cured thanks to a fancy Audi I bought several years ago: I couldn't afford it but bought it anyway so the payments were ridiculous AND after driving it a short while I didn't even like the car! Sold it 3 mos old, didn't take TOO much of a bath, and haven't given a crap about cars ever since, they are there to be driven.

Wear with care, but wear 😉

Cheers

There are a few sellers on eBay who precut the universal self healing Zagg protectors using templates to fit different watches.

I said it like 3 times above that I’m going to wear this one. It’s simply going to make me more anxious at first.

“Dress” watch or kid’s watch?

I almost got one, but it was too big for me. That dial is amazing, especially when you see it in person. The blue gradient is seemless.

Buy a Rado

Why Rado? where did that suggestion come from?

Had one years ago, and a spring bar broke leaving a piece fiercely stuck in the ceramic lug, but nobody could drill out the piece of spring bar. Sold it and never looked back.

Beautiful watch. Congratulations!
I too up until this past year, was scared of scratching my watches or car. With Covid and all the crazy things going on this year, I started doing things differently. I am wearing my watches more in activities that previously were calling for a beater (even sleeping with them so they get more wrist time). I am driving my car a little less cautiously as to where I am taking it(like more rain, bad weather, dog in back seat type of stuff).
I am really enjoying all of that much much more. Even with scratches, and dog saliva.

Well I did order the pre-cut screen protector stickers to put on my Deep Blue and others, so once that gets here to protect the clasp and sides of the case I’ll feel less anxious about wearing it. I know I can still damage the watch, but the stickers let me feel better about wearing my ceramic Pepsi, and I do like to wear it now. So whatever it takes to get me to use it I’m down for. Now waiting for my AD to find me a 126610LV Submariner.

Nice watch

I say wear it a lot. If it gets marks on it or scratches who cares? The watch is designed to be used as a serious tool watch. Rolex made it to be knocked about diving. It should be good for a everyday wearing while going about your day. Plus when you send it in for service, Rolex will make it look new again

I bought a Rolex sub brand new in 1995. Less then a month later i had several scratches on it. 25 years later i have a lot of scratches on it. I just let a independent service the watch and not touch the case.

Wonderful piece and I really hope you enjoy it the way watches were meant to be enjoyed, (by the owner) though I do wonder when watches were first thought of as investments? Serious question.

Too many they aren’t.
Baby a vintage gold constellation ! Well probably not as I am already only wearing it out for dinner or to a show and the hardest thing I’m doing is getting up from sitting down.
Rolex sub or this watch I’m all in, beach, boating, hiking.

Wearing a Speedmaster to work each day every knock and bump I enjoy as it’s part of my everyday watch make a vintage watch myself experience. ( I don’t go out of my way to beat it but I don’t shy away from doing anything because I have it on )

“You wear the watch, the watch doesn’t wear you” comes to mind. “Wearing” is the most important aspect of collecting for me. If the watch is too expensive, valuable or precious to wear in good conscience, I likely won’t want to own it.

Beauty of a dial. Rolexes are tool watches. My GMT does not get babied. My only concern is getting mugged and have a dealer tell me I’m shit out of luck.

What you got there for a backdrop - Prindle/Nacra?
