·This one just came in and I think its a beauty. It's the new Seiko SBDC051 Dive watch or the 62MAS reissue. I love Swiss/German watches, but there is just something about Seiko.

·Couldn't agree more. The SLA017 is a bit pricey and this is a good substitute. It would be nice if someone came out with after-market dials and hands that closer resemble the 62MAS. Seen a few of the 053s used on the forums but not a 051 👍.

·I’ve been spending a lot of time in recent weeks looking at various modern Seiko divers. This is one of the ones that made it to the top of the list.
I can’t quite decide between the SBDC051 and the SBDC029 (Japan version Ti).
Question: did you see it in person before buying? I wish there were some way to handle the many different options ‘in person’ but there are no Seiko OB’s near me.
