It’s an awesome watch and it’s from your dad—nothing else matters. I only wanted to point out the redial as a public service since folks (including me) tend to use forums like this as a reference when learning about and authenticating references. It’d be irresponsible not to acknowledge it, I think. Doesn’t matter how it affects value when it’s an item that’s priceless to the owner.
No worries... how does one redial a watch? Must be a very steady hand.

I imagine nowadays there are computer-aided printing techniques that could make a redial harder to spot, but yours does appear to be hand-done. It’s easy enough to distinguish from an original factory-printed dial, but even so I do agree: someone had to have a very steady hand and a fine tip pen to do that. Many hand-done redials just look like someone futzed around with a sharpie for five minutes before logging onto eBay.

This thread has two videos in it that show a process on how it’s achieved. The second video is further down in the thread.

If it's a redial, it wasn't done by me...and I've hade the watch over 50-years.
@Annapolis yes that is a redial. Maybe look for a cal 89 dial here or on Ebay. There are also some very good dial restorers on Instagram who can do a proper job if you want to keep this dial. I will PM you these names.

Here's an original signature, for comparison:

That is a beautiful watch you have on the way. I have a Cal. 401, which is pretty similar to the Cal. 89. I hope someday to add an 89 to my collection. Thanks for the post.

I reread you post. If you are into titanium and IWC, the pilot heritage is worth a look if modern is not a problem. It is definitely on my wish list.
