I thought this was a super safe Marina harbour - and show the amazing tidal range you can get in parts of the UK - You have to work with nature / you cant beat it :0)
As an alternative to a lengthy series of locks, consider the Falkirk Wheel at Falkirk, in Scotland. I won’t try to describe how it works. Videos of it in operation can be found on You Tube.
Didn’t have the best day, just wanted to sit outside and read a bit, let my mind go someplace else. Then these cuties felt like hanging out with me for an hour or so. I’ve looked at the picture a couple of times, always makes me smile.
Been kinda craving this type of flying for a while now. Maybe once this career field allows me to stop moving all the time, I can plant some roots and snag a fun toy to fly on days like this
Going up next week for an hour intro/dual in a J3 on floats….Jack Browns Seaplanes in MCO….looking forward to it!
Saw this in a local town today for UK remembrance poppy day. Late in the day volunteers were still out making the town ready to celebrate and remember those who served. Much respect in every sense. .
Portishead! Ten minutes from me! The Bristol Channel has the second highest tidal range in the world; it can be flippin’ scary…
Second only to the Fundy Tides in the Bay of Fundy between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Been there. Have seen that.
I took this photo last Friday, in the centre of Naples, whilst I was out enjoying some pizza and a beer. I saw this group of Italians staring at the TV watching Napoli FC, then a chap on a Vespa stopped to watch it. I don’t know why, but it just made me smile. A simple pleasure. The pizza was good too!
