Another one

Good photo! Probably a female Common Clubtail (Gomphus vulgatissimus). I was going to say that mid-September is very late for these but "Date & Time (original) 2014:06:16 08:37:18"

Out for a stroll this afternoon, and was treated to an unexpected and very pleasant flypast. Managed to get a pic before it disappeared.

No prizes for identifying this fine specimen of a warbird.

Well the terrain is nowhere near Duxford, but as this is the weekend of the Battle of Britain memorial airshows and anyone with a flyable Spitfire is going to throw it into the air I'd say it's one of those and not a Hawker Hurricane which actually did the bulk of the work in 1940.

True, but the Flying Tin Opener doesn’t give you goosebumps…

V difficult angle, but I'm going Mustang with this...
Spitfire, this one.
Not the clearest of pictures, but you can just make out those elliptical wings.

Depending on your location the BBMF appears to be sticking to the flight plan today (so a few people might get to see a Spitfire and a Hurricane....a bit of thread creep but should lift the spirits of anyone lucky enough to see / hear them :0)

Monarch caterpillars on my own small patch of suburban milkweed. I take a cup of coffee out to the garden every morning before work and watch them. They are eating machines.

Your dragonfly looks like a female Black Darter to me. https://british-dragonflies.org.uk/species/black-darter/ They are locally abundant in East Anglia but still worth reporting https://british-dragonflies.org.uk/recording/submit-your-records/

We are at the late end of the season now / some odd situations as they come to their end. Made me think a nature pix thread might work -
