Dear members,

I'm totally out of my comfort zone here but I have the feeling I need a sub in my collection. I'm looking at the no date two liner tritium dials which I like. But I have no idea if my research is enough to determine if everything is ok. Asking price is EUR 5500 with original box and papers. It's a 1991 /1992 sub. Is the insert ok? Dial seems good. Polishing ok? Here are the pictures:

Thanks people!

It's a dealer watch with 18 months guarantee...No inside pics. Modelnumber is between the lugs right?

Hand look to be service replacements as they are a lighter colour. Case has been polished but does not look bad.
Model number between the lugs at 12. Serial at 6 between the lugs.

Case was polished a lot, clasp has been over brushed and crown barely visible, hands look newer possibly lumina, minute hands seems to have dirt in lume root.

For 5500eur it is rather overpriced in my eyes, I would keep looking

The insert I can not really comment as I don't know much about it. It looks the same as on mine, a 14060 from '93.
For EUR 5500.00 one can find a better example then this.
I personally would look for one with hands matching the dial.
The pictures are not the best. A listing from Chrono24 is it?

When I look at early 14060's I see a lot of overpolished cases or wrong inserts. Not easy to find a collectable one...

The hands-dial mis-match would be a deal-breaker for me.

Those pictures are horrible. You need a nice daylight shot of that dial with the focus on the dial and a macro shot of the hands.

The white balance between the first set of pics and the second just make it difficult to tell what the exact patina tone is, same as the actual hand patina versus the dots.

Bezel does seem a replacement but not a bad one. Polish is fairly acceptable. Price is high although the box and papers certainly add a little value to the purchase.

I think you can probably do better . At that price and with those pics I would not buy it. If owner can make more natural pics and take some high def dial or macro dial pics and negotiate a little on the price then... maybe? Depending on what else I find around?

I'm sorry I forgot to clarify. The second set of pics are from a different sub. That one is on ebay for eur 5300 and is without papers but the hands seem to match the lume dots. But I agree I need daylight pics. And I think the insert of the second sub us wrong for a early 14060. Numbers are to fat. The insert of the first sub is the correct one I think. Hmmm. Will ask some daylight pics of the second sub. Thnx guys for your opinions.

I am pretty sure both are fine, there were more inserts made during that time, as long as it has tritium pearl it should be fine.

Price is high, looks a bit overpolished as stated above. I think you can find better examples, at a better price. 14060 is a great watch,however....

14060 seems stupidly overpriced considering how overpolished majority of the examples are, are you deadset in tritium teritory ? Luminova 14060 or 16610 are in my opinion better values than overpolished tritiums..

Well... tritium ages really nice. And I'm a bit of a vintage collector... And I want a sub that's close to the original one without date, four lines, etc. By the way, I've found a third sub (1996) on the bay for 5k but price is negotiable (no papers). The first two I've send messages for pictures in daylight. Keep you posted. I need a sub within one month. Sorry Omega... I will be back..

I understand that tritium ages but you are linking one by one 14060 that took quite a polishing. It is very easy to gauge the condition, take a look at the holes and polished sides, if they are curvy they took polish, take a look at how light refracts from the top of lugs if the light reflection is not a line but a curve, rebrushed poorly that changed the shape of the lug.

I am sure you heard this before but condition, condition condition, unpolished luminova will be much more desireable than 14060 that was polished by person without necessary experience. The last one you linked, top left lug looks bad, the bottom right also, you can see it looks bulgy.

I'm afraid you're right. But every damn 14060 tritium sub I see is polished... Maybe I'm looking to much at dealers iso private sellers.
