ID and advise - geneve 70s?

I have recently been handed down this watch.
As per the advise here I'm not going go take the back off myself so no model ID.

The screen is badly scratched. Watch not currently working. I am wondering if it is worth restoring.

I have been unable to find an identical model online so hoping someone can help with an ID and thoughts on if restoration would make be worth while assuming restoring would only be new battery and is it possible to replace or fix the front.

No seconds hand and the band make it different from the closest 70s models I could compare it to.

Appreciate your advice.

Hi..I do not understand why you ask for help here if you are not willing to open the watch to get all the info you need?
Anyway this is a mechanical watch and it will not need a battery..

Hello Nouf, and welcome to the forum!

Please see this recent discussion for pics of a Geneve with the .041 case:

Your watch likely has a 601 movement, but we need to see inside to confirm.

Here's a video showing how to polish a watch crystal. They're using a watch-specific product, but I've done the same with fine sandpaper and automotive polishing compound:

Because I read a bunch of posts about not doing it with plyers. Before I invest in tools etc I'm wondering if fhis watch is worth my time and effort.

The sweep hand is missing. Otherwise it looks ok. The crystal can either be polished or replaced. Not a big deal.

At the moment, in that condition it's not worth much, but the case is in reasonable condition and the caseback hasn't been gouged up by people using pliers or scissors to try to open it.

You could try to undo the caseback with a sticky ball, but there's really no need, I'd stake my money on it being a 135.0041 with a caliber 601 as noted by @sleepyastronaut .

Get it serviced and wear it, it's a nice starter watch for Omega vintage.
