Hello All I need help with this bezel. It is a Speedmaster 145,022-78 from 1980. Is it genuine or aftermarket? The 100 and 110 mark is a little hidden and I have never seen it before Regards Björn
The experts will chime in shortly. But if I had to guess this is not an Omega bezel, and you're right to second guess it. Looks damn shabby to me.
I don’t like it. I don’t have a stack of photos of DNN bezels like I do for DONs, so I can’t easily set something photographic up. The bezel itself doesn’t look like an Omega bezel, the edge and thickness of it. And the insert doesn’t look convincing under magnification either.
Ok, bear in mind that I just threw this together, but here we go On the bottom in each sequence is the OP’s bezel My examples are both B2 DNNs. (This is wrong, I discovered. See below.) Yeah, I don’t like it. But the photos suck, to put a fine point on it. What do others think? EDIT - My mistake. The bezel on top of each of the two groupings is a DNN B5 bezel. I apologize for the error.
That was my thinking. The 500 to the 225 is cut off at the edges. Surely not a consequence of wear? Delighted I'm not the only one with doubts.
That was my first feeling to. I have requested better pictures from him that I will buy it from so I hope to have it during the day. I have compared the bezel to the moon book and have a strange feeling. Thats why I need a second opinion. Thank you for all help
Having just corrected my second post in this thread, I’ll also post a comparison of my B2 bezel with the OP’s bezel, again with the known on top and the questioned on the bottom. The questioned insert, in this comparison of this portion of the rim, appears legitimate. I still don’t like the thickness and edge of the bezel itself. Nothing like having them in hand. But the better photos do help.
Your insert looks like it's for a slightly larger bezel that has been shaved down to work with a Speedmaster.
