I can’t read the dial clearly from these photos. If it is a UG it’s certainly a very early case serial number. It would help to see photos of the inside caseback and the movement, I’m not sure if that is something you can safely do yourself, if you are not sure, you should use a professional

Can’t see a brand or caliber written on the movement, can you? Will have to identify the mvmt based by sight, will require comparison to mvmt database (unless someone here can recognize it).
Were there any markings on the inside case back?
(Best not to handle the dial or mvmt without finger cots)

Congrats on this interesting heirloom. From this 1920 advertisement, we know that UG, like many other brands of the time, also offered watches with this distinctive 'exploding' numeral style.

I believe it's likely that the watch is all original. It's not uncommon for such early watches that movements were not signed, but I also can't recognize this particular calibre.

I'm not recognizing the caliber either. I know the common time only movements but assume that doesn't really apply here due to the earlier time period. This case serial, if it is a UG, is very early, our current charts start at 500,000.
@Carlton-Browne do you recognize this movement? Or can think of who to ask?

It doesn't ring any bells with me - not that that is anything conclusive.

Funnily enough I've been trying to identify a (non-UG) movement on the resurrected Ranfft site and it's a mess.

@Georg3 Do we at least have a diameter of the movement in either mm or lignes?
