Hello, I have found a very good looking ad for a vintage Jaeger LeCoultre watch. The add says it is roughly 35 years old and I can tell from the stamp on the case back it is 18K gold. I would love to buy this watch but I don’t know what model or year the watch came from. Can someone please help me figure out what specific model and year it is from? Does anyone know what it is worth as well? The seller is asking $800 for the piece but I believe he does not know the full value, or is it only worth $800? Either way I will be happy to add this to my collection. From what I can tell it looks like part of the Master collection. It looks to me to be legitimate and the process I am paying with protects me from fakes so that is not a worry. Here are some pictures:

Does that look like a JLC movement to you. Seriously.

I've seen that exact same case on a horrible fake Omega too. Was looking to see if I could find pictures of it but can't at the moment

+ You asked us. - you need to spend a little more time learning about watches before diving in. As said this is a miserable fake, even with the bad pics. JLC makes some of the most beautiful movements in the biz.

Could it be more obvious that it was originally an automatic movement that has had the auto winding removed?

Seriously, you are going to get yourself in deep shit if you continue to come to your own conclusions.

The watch you posted is an extremely obvious fake, (and a pretty ugly one at that) no matter what hallmarks it carries.

Take some time to educate yourself on a particular brand/era/style so that next time you see something like the watch you posted you can have a good laugh and say "not for me thank you!"

I'd be interested to know what process protects you from buying/paying for a fake watch.

OP, all the above is kindly meant, and I think folks are genuinely a bit worried and perplexed - as JimInOz has shown, there's scarcely a line in your post that doesn't light at least an amber warning. I also spat my coffee at, "a very good looking ad". Seriously? The photos you presented were not of the quality you should be demanding of sellers before proposing to spend any money on anything. In this case, it doesn't matter, the watch was obviously unpleasant no matter who made it - but in future I hope you will insist on more and better from sellers before even entertaining their demands for your money.
Best wishes for your future hunting.
