I May Make the Transition from Boyhood to Manhood Monday - Vintage Moonphase Triple ($2.5k)

Gather 'round children, it's story time- Right before this past Christmas, I bought another sh*t Timex watch and absolutely loathed it upon its arrival. I returned it with the full and shameless intention of purchasing a similarly sh*t Timex, only until it occurred to me that maybe I've finally enough facial hair, back problems and trouble remembering things, that it's time to graduate to an esteemed and respectable piece.

I've faithfully kept my ears to the ground for a vintage moonphase and think I've finally found "the one." If the sheer obviousness of the previous paragraph didn't deafen you with the blare of a novice's plea, I'll spell it out for you- I have no idea what the hell it is that I'm doing here.

I created about a dozen permutations of watch specs and, over the course of the past few months, have finally managed to hone in on my price ceiling, and nonnegotiables; alas, I want (nay, need) a vintage moonphase omega and think I've been blessed to find one that is here in the States (not a crazy zealot, but foresee the benefits of buying domestically from a pure proximity perspective). The watch I've found clearly has a refinished dial, which I know is heresy in the vintage collectors' community, but I'm looking for a watch that I can wear everyday and am not using this as an investment, per se. What I'm wondering is what sorts of things should I be asking the dealer? what seems off about this watch from those who are savvy? What should I negotiate to/ should I negotiate at all? What are the typical things that noobs forget to bargain for in these negotiations? Do you like or hate this guy?

TL;DR- Is this watch worth 2,500 dollars, or does it smell like the smelliest of fish and I ought to run for the hills?

The 2471 is a great reference for sure, but the one you have found is a poor redial, so therefore you should pass and continue your research.

Can you tell me specifically what is so poor about it the redial job?

The Omega & sign is poorly "printed".
Also look at the dates at the border of the dial, their spacing and positioning is quite off.

Acknowledging it's a redial, I find some of the arabic hour numbers unappealing. The bulbous top halves of the 2's make those numerals look out of proportion, and the squashed fat 8 puts me off it. Answering one of your questions, I would pass on this one and not bother negotiating a lower price particularly for a daily wearer. Looking at those numerals every day would be off-putting for me, but that's just individual preference of course. Let us know which way you go.

Very strong feedback in opposition to this piece, but the honesty is deeply appreciated, folks.

Super supportive community! One last question then- it seems that my dream watch (or Grail watch, if I'm borrowing the term correctly?) is floating around more prevalently and fairly priced than I'd previously suspected, On forums such as this, as opposed to Chrono24 and other marketplaces.

Are there any other sites or forums you'd recommend scouring to find my moonphase triple date? I can't express my appreciation enough, guys!

OF helps those who help themselves. If a potential buyer comes here first, they're a hell of a lot easier to save. Unfortunately, too many times a novice ventures out on their own and ends up paying the noob tax.

Do you have any further suggestions on forums and websites to find pieces like this? I was previously just looking through Chrono24, but I love the idea of having community to help vet out poor investments. Also, the prices here seem.far better. Other places I should look?
It's all the same, everywhere you go. Buy the seller and trust the experts here.

It's very hard to find an original Omega TDM with a good dial. For some reason, these dials are almost always degraded. So if you find one in good condition, you really need to be skeptical. And if you find a legit example with a clean dial, the price will usually be MUCH higher.

I’ve been looking for some time myself.
