So...I just bought a Omega Speedmaster with a Star logo on the case back to the left of where it says stainless steel. It also has a P/N SED12100312-301 Engraved at the bottom of the case back and under it has a S/N number. What do I have?

Well let's hope for a score, and if not at least let's hope the OP got a genuine example with monkeyed case back for small money.

 

The Article from RJ says there were 4 prototypes for Omega and 56 for NASA. None were ever supposed to be out in the wild.

Where did you find this watch?

 

I bought it from a guy whose grand father was a engineer. The grandfather passed and left it to him and wanted to sell it so I bought it.

 

Do you know where this engineer had worked in the past?

 

Was the price reasonable? We know now it's a genuine Speedmaster, caseback aside.

 

Its really looking like a score

 

No idea, he said they never really knew growing up what grandpa did.
