Great to see you post Johan! I don´t know you in person, but you´ve been my competitor I love to hate for many years 😁 Thinking especially of that GL Connie you snatched right in front of me

I think our journeys has been aligned, and I would also love to see some of the spark back. Maybe it´s time to upgrade my iphone 4 😁

Haha! Yes - that auction was back when we both were "hungry".

As so many has said that my pictures are nice (thanks!) I now want you to see my watch-pic-nemesis-watch. Took these just now in believing the new phone maybe could do wonders. It could not. This watch just cannot be photographed good. Not within my capabilites anyway. There is always lint, hair, dust and/or unwanted reflexes - or lack of wanted reflexes - what ever I do. I cannot get the logo and Omega text and the hands to show at the same time. The printed text is in silver but it will not show...

And if I do get something I cannot get focus on the rest of all the things going on on the dial... It is impossible!

With a larger sensor camera (APS-C or full frame) it's hard to get a sharp image because the depth of field is much smaller. Phones make better shots.

Depth of field is a function of the lens, and not the sensor (or film for analogue).

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_of_field

One will never get better results with a phone than with a camera (provided one knows what one is doing). Good glass is very important ... the reason serious photographers spend way more money on lenses than bodies.

Sorry for the thread drift...great pics and watches Styg.

You always feature the very best photographs. I'd buy a coffee table book of photographs you've placed here on the Forum.

A trick from a professional photographer on using the iPhone for wrist pics:

Move the phone further away from your wrist and zoom in to get your framing, even though it’s not an optical zoom, it minimizes the distortion (cushioning) from being close to the subject- it also decreases depth-of-field so you get a softer background. Works great with portraits of people too to avoid their noses looking twice the size.

Good to learn something new 😀

Which phone? Do you mind sharing?

It says Galaxy S9 and Duos on it and it seems to be a Samsung. I am not "into" the mobile phone thing. Workplaces has provided me with phones since 1991 and I have never owned one privately.

Since I have shown the watch-pic-nemesis-watch I might as well show the opposite. This 18k Connie photographs very well regardless of lighting etc.

This I took yesterday sitting on the porch watching the robot lawnmower do my work (best investment ever...).

Some old pics showing just how photogenic this Connie is.
