Ok, it's not for me. I have a friend with an 8" wrist who wants a "vintage" sport watch (40mm+) for sub $2K. The first thing that came to mind is an 80's to 90's speedmaster. Is this possible or should I simply move on? He's open to other things but does not want any Tag Heuer models.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

If he wants a more classicly styled non mkII

Sinn 903 with white dials are at that price. I believe all the ones with date wheels are automatics. Hard to find a hand wind one. 40-42mm wears the same size if not a tad larger then a speedy. You might be able to find a Panda or black dial at that price if you hunt.

A 2500 PO at 42 or maybe 45.5 might be a good call. I think the 45.5 XL size might be hunt able at that price.

Another alternative could be an El Primero...40.5mm with crown; hunting wise, sub $2000 sans service:
