Finally the truth comes out!

Rolex Scarcity - A Criminal Conspiracy? - The Truth About Watches

Rolex watches are the preferred currency for criminals, which explains the latest Rolex ad campaign I saw recently...

😉
Not necessarily criminal, but Rolex and Patek was the go-to purchases for many wealthy families in Indonesia who ready to hop to neighbor country if president election went wrong back in 2019.

A small bag of watches can sustained them for 2 years living in Aussie.

Had the writer of the above article in question not heard of crypto currency’s yet....

*spit take*

A good friend and client's company just lived through a ransomware attack, ending in a darkweb payment of $2,000,000 worth of *not* Rolex watches

Yes, they use it to buy the Rolex!!! 😀

Of course crypto is the number 1 tool of criminals, but don’t mention that in the bitcoin thread. By the way, did you read that millions sent via crypto in the last major ransomware attack in the US was recovered? It’s not as anonymous as people say apparently.

Meat company in Australia and Canada and somewhere else just paid $14.2 million the other day.
The press it’s been getting it will be banned like a post farmer on Omega Forum

Yes, JBS. Company has sites in US, Australia, and Canada.

The previous ransomware attack at a pipeline company in the US, the FBI was able to recover a couple million. It’s only a matter of time until they start being able to track all this. Wouldn’t surprise me if they can recover the JBS money as well.

I went in 2 Authorised dealers in London to buy a submariner or a GMT they just smiled and asked if I had any Rolex purchase history I replied it’s the first time in my working life that I can afford to buy my dream watch……they said I’ve got absolute no chance.

So I’ve decided to buy a Planet Ocean white dial with orange bezel

Congrats on your purchase its a great watch mate!

When you decide to get a chronograph the Speedy will be available too and its a great watch to compliment the PO.

I've been a Rolex guy for 25 years and have owned more than I can even remember. I'm done with them. My wife has two and I have a 50th Anniversary Sea Dweller that I don't really wear anymore. I really don't like the situation they have manufactured, but it appears to be working for them. I am happy to wear my Speedmaster, and probably won't get mugged for wearing it.

That colour combination is so cool. Imagine looking down on that piece in summer, by the pool or in the ocean... 🥰

That is an eye candy. If it were available in 39.5mm I would take the plunge. Such a nice, fresh color combination. Congrats! Enjoy!

I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago and walked into a Rolex AD to see what they had. Of course it was nothing but ladies DJs, but I expressed interest in a couple of models (had multiple things to celebrate on this trip) and since I was going to be there for a couple of weeks before going home, thought they could add my name to a list -- a short-term list is common AFAIK, as most buyers are tourists -- but they wouldn't even take my name down. A couple of days later I saw someone post up photos of the watch I wanted at the exact location. It was a literal off the street purchase.

Part of me wonders why I wasn't lucky enough, but another part of me wonders why the AD is allowed to do stuff like this. I surely felt I was being treated unfairly.. As a current Rolex owner, it's disappointing to see what's happened to the brand.

Rolex… an English brand that moved to Switzerland for tax breaks, became a charity and in switerzland (possibly the most corporately corrupt country in the world) that means they can distribute profit without paying a penny in tax to anyone they like and they don’t have to declare it.

Zero, I find them gaudy and can’t stand the cyclops. I do like the submariner no date.
